Re: Polo Blue GT VIN Number

Hi, I'm tracking delivery of a new Polo Blue GT and, whilst the car has been built for some time, its status seems to have been stuck at 'In Transit' for several weeks now. There are conflicting opinions as to whether the 5 door Blue GT is built in the VW plant in Spain or the South African facility. Can an existing 5 door owner help me out please by letting me know the first three characters of their VIN number? This identifies the country of manufacture and should help me understand whether the delay is in shipping from Port Elizabeth SA or whether the car is languishing in port at Santander.

Many Thanks

The tracker can be quite far behind, online the tracker told me my GTI was in transit when in reality it was parked up in the dealers garage! May be worth checking with your dealer as try can tell you a lot more in depth!

I just found this forum and its great to see so many enjoying the new Blue Gt - I get mine delivered on Wednesday and I can't wait! 5 doors, reflex silver (sorry a bit boring), DSG gearbox, tinted rear windows, Titan Black Alcantara seats and the 8 speaker RNS navigation set up. Yeppie.

BlueGT's are built in Spain, are you sure your dealer hasn't take delivery or that it is not in the country but not delivered to the dealer. UK deliveries go via Emden currently so your car has to wait for a boat to Emden then either continues on to UK or is offloaded to wait the next UK sailing.
As per Tompfaa I've found the tracker to lag against what has really happened.

My wife's Blue GT (3 door) was showing "In Transit" for approx 3 weeks, then suddenly just got a call from the dealer to say it had arrived (still said in transit). The next day it just jumped to "Your car has arrived", skipping "Arrived in the UK" completely.

Thanks for the feedback guys,

I guess the tracker system is only as good as those logging progress so I await a surprise call from the dealer. Would still be interested in the VIN prefix though just to clarify which plant produces the 5 door Blue GT if only to help the wife deciding whether to name her car 'Nelson' or 'Fernando'.

All Blue GT's 3 and 5 door are made in Spain not South Africa.

Nelson Fernanandez has always been her hero but if it had been coming from South Africa I guess she would have had to have gone with that great South African Fernanodo Macawesi!

Does the Polo GT - DSG have paddle shifters on the wheel?
I dont think it does and doubt if I would ever use them if it did - but it would be cool.
1 day to go untill mine arives! :)

I have seen two Blue GT's on the road today... It's really hard to keep patient...

It's been three loooooong month so far since I ordered it. But I should get it within 2-3 weeks from now if everything goes as planed...
