read in one of the magazines (can't remember which one but it's one with the GTI on the front of it) that its release will be April.

Could be as late as May! You can pre-order now if you are confident in VW's abilities to produce a top-notch hot hatch...
I'll be looking at it in June

PMSL it's the same as the Sport Diesels.... however i suppose theire about equal in spec as that's how the ibiza's to do it. FR Petrol is 150bhp and FR diesel is 130bhp.... however bit unfair as the Sport diesel wont have some of the same touches as the GTI.

The only thing is IIRC the performance isn't much increased from the current GTi?

In comparison to the current GTI the new one will be more easily tuneable on a larger scale. Please correct me if i'm wrong.
Aaron what makes you say that the GTI is better value than the TDI's?

I think the GTI looks better value because of the unique styling and better performance, I wouldn't even consider the TDI myself unless I was doing alot of miles per year.

That interior styling is woeful. It looks like a really cheap ford interior or something.
I like the tartan though as it dates to the early GTi's
That engine is well capable of matching the hot hatch supermini's like the Clio 182 and the 206GTi's, why the hell are VW always so conservative?
Why not break the mould again like they did with the G40's and Ralley?
Pff.
Around 150BHP/tonne is not great.

The interior is crap. Like going back to my 1st car, the 1ltr Polo, nothing special so no thanks. Not going to be buying a Polo GTi.

Hello All!
I am a member of UK-MKIV's so thought I would pop over here aswell!
Going by the amount of things that can be done to the 1.8T engine, it should be easy to bring the new GTI to around 220bhp with only a few mods i.e. turbo back system, CAI and a remap!
