a simple rule: if you beat a vts in a gti, it's a vtr with a vts badge

Vts are pretty quick little s**t,

Gti is really no match for them, from a purely straight line point of view,

same for pug 106gti, they are smae as saxo,

Same here. Stop talking utter nonsense.

And most 2.0 are in bigger heavier family cars. So that's no surprise you beat them. I've wasted 320 BM's, 2.0 Vectra's, Mondeo etc but i wouldnt' bother telling anyone.

They may be quicker, but to be honest I'd rather have a better looking better made car that isn't as common as speed cameras.

that's how i used to think when i had my 1 litre mark 4, now i have a faster car i've realised how fun going fast can be

Anywayz i conceed seeing as everyone is ganging up on me, your all right and im wrong, the VTS is faster than the gti and theres no way in the world a polo coould ever beat a vts away from the lights.. .i guess im just too biast towards Veedubs !!!! i just love em too much.

Right... Just to kick up this arguement again.

I just raced a lad home from college, went a very long route for about 20 miles.. at no point was he anywhere nere me on the straights... when we go back home he couldnt beleive i only had 125 bhp...

Bstards !!! lucky im fully comp with window cover !!!! only cost me £50 each time instead of the usual £185 for a rear side window, where on earth do they get these prices from ? how can a piece of glass cost that much? i know its toughened but still, my dad is a glazier and buys that sort of glass all the time, doesnt cost anywhere near as much.

I love this forum........every now and then an argument spouts up and all over personal opinions and experiences. Then sooner or later, they bury the hatchet and get on with things.

The VTS in theory should be quicker than a GTi, but you can't just take into account power to weight ratio of the spec given. You never know if a car is completely standard, be it suspension, tyres, air filter, performance chips, wider wheels for going round corners....all slight mods can make a difference in races! Also, i don't know about you guys, but there's definately days where my car drives better and seems faster than others! My brother feels the same about his CTR.

Anyways, we all love our lickle Polos and who on this forum really cares which is fastest, speed isn't everything, just like certain other activities in life. ...........so lets all agree to disagree!

You can't go on personal accounts of whose car is faster. My car is DOG slow at the moment, I got beat off the lights by a 307 HDi. There are WAY too many variables that you don't know about.

First things first, not every VW polo GTi off the production run comes out with 125bhp. There is a variance in power in the engines (to a specified tolerance). Its possible you were lucky and have a GTi running slightly faster and the dude in the VTS had an underpowered car. Or maybe he treated it like sh1t and it runs badly as a result.

You gotta factor in all the other variables, there are too many but I will list a few: Milage on their car, amount of fuel in the tank, passengers (every 50kg is gonna add a second or 2 to 60). Tires, clutch, and then the drivers ability to change gear.

So if you beat a VTS good for you but if the test was done properly the VTS will beat the GTi 90% of the time.

Personaly I don't care too much, I just wish I could work out why my GTi is doing around 10 secs to 60

Cal , maybe you should remove your parcel shelf and boot contents so at least they can see theres nothing in it. Lame as tho taking things like arieals etc. I sold my polo and bought a MX-5 theres pics in the members bits. wanted rear wheel drive 2 seater that was quick so bout the 1.8 DOHC 16V mk2 version. Good car to learn in etc before progressing to other rear wheel cars. Still got to love the polo tho.

BMW sounds wicked. they are really smart cars.


polo has real class t it where other small simular cars have no class what so ever.
