yes mate it is made from rubber, i figures with it being subject to debris and salt in the winter, as well as water from the road in bad weather and car washing, its not going to rust or become damaged the same, and being slightly flexible, its likely to take a bit more stick from general arch related junk
that was my reasoning behind it anyway

ah right, is it not close enough to or the intercooler not hot enough to melt it?

I did mine the tale end of last year so haven't really benefited from it as yet..... Though it's an obvious improvement on the standard gill on the side of the car.... Not long till the warmer weather though.
Didn't bother removing the archliner just used one of those 1.5-2 inch wide circular cutting bits you put on an electric drill then smoothed the edges with a file and sand paper. Also didn't bother with the mesh behind the grille either. As mentioned above i figured an FMIC gets caked in more crap than this will.

Going to ask a weird question on this intercooler stuff. Do the 1.9 TDi have intercoolers? Sorry for a real lame question. I thought they did due to the turbo. And is it in the same place??
Thanks
Yes, the TDI's have an intercooler as well, with the same air flow issue.

The first mention of this mod on Briskoda is in a post dated 9th April 2005....... Don't know if that's the earliest full stop though.
Cheers
