I'd like to push 170. I'm not looking for well over 200bhp as I'll just buy another car like that and keep the Polo as a second car in the future. The GTI is fun as standard, I think an extra 50bhp with an awesome sounding N/A engine would make it even more special

So the wind has changed. Labour for the conversion is looking to cost in excess of £1000, plus buying the engine and extra parts clocks in at around another £1500.

Id install it myself, but I work full time and have no time to do this kinda stuff anymore, so the conversion has to be called off due to financial, and practicality constraints.

Im now on the hunt for a real GTI in Red so if anyone has one up for grabs let me know for sure!

This thread will become my progress thread from now on :)

No way! I was really looking forward to seeing all the progress, considering all the work you've already put into the 1.0.
But buying the GTi does seem to be a lot easier financially and practically. Plus you get loads of goodies :)

Ye, its a balance between want and realism. Id love to do it for the experience, but realistically its to expensive.

The GTI im looking at has a hell of a lot more goodies than standard anyway so we shall see.

haha unfortunately not. I want a red one, and I want it nearly original. That way I can make it into my own little GTI rather than saying oh look isnt that this persons old car. See what i mean?
