Sweet. The carpet looks well fitted compared to my old car (pug 106), is it easy to put back down once you've pulled her up?

Sweet, sweet. I've done 6x9s before but never door speakers, is it easy to do them as well? Do they hook straight up to head-unit?

In my head I've got it like this (please correct me if I'm wrong!):

6x9s link to amp in boot. Amp links to engine and head-unit. Head-unit links to door speakers.

yeah

whip the old door speakers out and the wire will be their coming from the headunit.

then just route all your wires to battery and to head unit and then wire your 6x9s to the amp

Thanks Kyle.

One more question (that I nearly forgot...)...

How the f**k do you remove the standard sony radio?? It's the one that came with the car with the cassette player etc... I think that the plastic edge round the perimeter (that's usually removable) is fixed onto it and I can't see anywhere to put the little metal hook things down (my knowledge of correct terminology is terrible...).

Also will this fit in it easily? I had to get a fitter to put it in my pug as I couldn't get the bugger to fit!

From memory, once you've got the thin plastic surround unclipped from the head unit then the slots to put the removal keys will be easy to see either side, when I took mine out it needed a 'yank' to come free once I'd released it.

The Pioneer you have shown will fit, I've put a Pioneer Unit in mine & fits fine, just be patient (as kyle said) & take your time. Any issues then just post up & we'll help! :D

Today is the day of debadgery and bumper removal plus fitting of ICE. I'll let you know how it goes (probably awfully knowing me...).

Fitted my 6x9s, component speakers and fitted tweeters into door (above door speakers, looks good) and debadged the back. Have ordered a badgeless grill too. Also nicked my mate's Wolfsburg edition door pins :)

Next weekend I'll remove the side bumpers and fit my grill and put MK5 rear lights on and Angel Eye headlights (also nicked off the same mate).

Couple of problems I've come across:

1. Head-unit doesn't have "memory" i.e. resets itself everytime ignition is turned off. I should be able to just switch the live and constant cables on the back to sort this... will try after work tonight.

2. Central locking to the boot has gone so I'm having to open it manually with the key for the time being. Anyone got any ideas about this?

I'll take some photos soon so you can all slate me for not having it lowered :)

Cheers!

Oh and another question... Induction kit: Yay or Nay?

the memory.

should have a red and yellow wire on back of head unit. if their are red to red, yellow to yellow switch them.

yellow to red, red to yellow. or visa versa thta should sort the memory problem 8)

Cheers, man. This stuff is addictive, I never even touched my last car but this one I want to do loads of stuff to!

A mate is giving me his angel eyes as he's selling his and swapping my standards for them as well as getting crystal clear indicators and side lamps off him. He's also giving me his MK5 lights for the back for my standard ones... Good move?? Will be doing that this weekend. Oh, he's also offering me his extended bonnet in exchange for my standard one.

Can you get induction kits for MK4 8v? All the ones I see say MPI only.
