Yeah, thats what i concluded. But the only people that we're willing to do one were JD engineering in Holland. at a cost of £1500!

Come on lads do your homework, if you have a 2000 onward engine Revo can disable the immobiliser program within the ECU there is more wiring involved and you'll need a drive by wire pedal box from a Passat with the twin bias pumps on the brake pedal allowing you to ditch the master cylinder as there is no room for it under the bonnet.

If you have a 1998-2000 engine then the immobiliser can be overcome by using a golf MK3 immobiliser unit which is separate to the MK3 Ecu the 1.8t ECU can then be programmed to accept the code from the separate immobiliser unit rather than internally.

My ECU is having this done at the moment at the cost of £100.00 with all the relevent modifyed wiring diagrams sent to me so hopefully I can get the engine running this weekend.

please bear in mind that before attempting the engine swap was to put petrol in my car :lol:
