Yes I know 6 and 7 spd DSG are very different and as 7 spd has dry clutches I thought that they would overheat sooner than 6 spd

My 1.4 16v DSG Polo has hill hold. In 'D' with foot on the brake revs are about 800rpm. Release the footbreak and revs go up to about 1200rpm without touching the accelerator.

Takes a bit of getting used to, but is a nice feature if you are parking on a steep hill or starting in snow. Also you can't hold the car in 'D' on the handbrake alone without footbrake.

Yes I do have hill hold and didn't even know checked the manual and it will work in D, S & R according to this. Not sure if it works in manual mode so will have to try this and possibly why I didnt know as I drive in manual most of the time plus not many hills around here.

Thats exactly what happened with mine. Have you spoken to vw about this pal? If so, what have they said / done about it? Mines been booked into vw for a week on monday to be looked at and i have asked them to have a look over it. Ive asked them about numerous problems people are reportin on here and everytime they say they have never heard of any problems with this car an engine. :-S i feel like takin print outs from every different problem of here and sayin tell me they dont exist now lol

I can sympathise with your problem and hope it's sorted but you need to vent your anger at VW, have you written to them?

Mine went on me again last night. Was pullin accross the main road to go up onto my estate and the DSG diss-engaged again. Left me sat diagonally accross the road with no drive. Range rover sport charging straight at me Luckily there was nothing coming behind me so he went around me. Got in and rang vw, same old crap, theres no problems with the DSG box, theres no technical bulletins. Funny thing is, it never logs a code when it does this, so as far as vw are concerned, theres no problem. I asked the service manager if he could ring vw germany and see if they actually know of any reasons and whether or not theres going to be any solution to this problem. Its really quite dangerous

does the dsg behave its self if you leave it in auto mode ?

if it does why do you keep trying to drive it manually if your aware its un safe i know it defeats the object but at least its safe to use

Did it again tonight, and low and behold i had the laptop int car with me and vag com cable. So pluged it in and did full scan. Found 2 engine faults and 9 sensor faults. No actually faut on the dsg transmission though. Cars already going in on monday so they will get this print out of codes an ill let them try tell me theres no problem with it now! Also videod it to on the iphone so they can watch tht also.

Did you ring VW Customer Service like I suggested?

Mechatronic unit is going to be replaced on what is soon to be my old Polo GTI.
