hahaha, my motto exacly

did a edit on the quote.
we are mixing tings up here, sorry :P

i did a 14.1 without the back seat only, crappy dunlop tyres that almost had no profile, and half wasted clutch.
so normaly with good tyres, new clutch and good launch i get a 13.9 tweaked out of it (i hope  )
did a Gtech run around that time and did 5.6sec to 60.
but i could not get under 5.8 at first so a flatten the tyres, a bit less pressure on them and made 5.6 immediantly
diddn't tried it after, tyres are even worse now, looking for others but don't know wich yet.
whats youre opinion about toyo proxes?
have a couple of tyres i want and proxes is in that list.

haha its getting confusing!

i got a 5.8 to 60 too! recorded on the racelogic box! haha

i normally run toyo proxes T1-R, used to have T1-S... but looking for some 888s for the track!

im currently on pirelli p zero nero, they are soft, but suprisinly hardwearing! done 4500 miles on them so far (mixture of road and track) and the tread still looks brand new!

what tyres are you look into?!

//thread hijack!

haha

i have 2 sets of wheels.

stock 16" wich i'm going to use for track and dragrace.
Toyo R888,verry good but wear down fast, pretty expensive also.
but to get good grip they must be on temperature, they are not made for rain or normal driving.

Yokohama Neova Advan AD08, comes close to semi slick, good price, also a good tyre but R888 is a a tiny bit better in dry.
but the yoko's last alot longer as the toyo's and are better in wet.

Toyo R1R, don't know yet, maybe for my 17" daily wheels?
i know these tyres are good, but i think AD08 or R888 are still alot better.

Yokohama A520, also comes close to a semi slick, but don't know if they are good or not.
they were suited on the smart brabus  price is ok.

Toyo T1R, more of a road going tyre so maybe more suitable for my 17"..

as for the rest, hard to find good tyres in 205 45 16" size :x

pirelli's are good i know, friend had them.
bidgestone potenza Re50a might also be something to put on my 17".

17" is more for daily use, but also going to be used for red light races and dragraces.
but no track days or so.
for that i want to use my 16" with a pair of high grippers

Yeah, that readout is 150.7 HP @ the wheels

I have VAGCOM, might have a play tomorrow
There might not be any fault codes but if you know what your looking for you should be able to interpret the read outs given by the MAF.

i won't spray anything on it... leave it as it is, it's verry fragile.
if you use products on it you will probably damage it.
try it out with vagcom first.

a stock Polo can't even get into the 14's. (more like +-15.1 - 15.5)
so if you do +-14.5 it has the power it should have.
when did you do this, long ago??
I did a 14.47 sec on Friday just gone (05/08/2011)

I'll try get some readouts from the MAF with VAG COM after work later, not that I will know if the readouts are correct or not. I'll post some readouts here as and when I get them

Ok apparently the dyno man said that the readout was flywheel HP, not wheel HP

So I'm running 150.7 HP 180 lb-ft torque at the flywheel, but running 14.47 seconds 1/4 mile

This is doing my head in, I'm just gonna take it to where I got the map I recon and ask them what's going on :-(

with 180Hp and 244nM you will never get to 14.47sec on 1/4mile.
it must be measured at the flywheel, like i said, otherwise youre torque diddn't match up.
you just can't have 215Hp and 244nM with a 20Vt engine.
so the dyno was not correct.

go to another dyno and do some logs with vagcom.
this should trow some lights up.

dyno's can easy manipulated.
don't mather what dyno it is, it has to be set right.
even if you have 800Hp, it can be manipulated like you only have 10Hp.
so don't trust to much on dyno's, it's just to give you a notice about what power you run.
but this is realy messed up if you ask me, yoy realy can't have 180hp if you do 14.5sec in a GTI,
unless you run on slicks and get 500Kg of weight out

Dynos measure KW, so ask him for that number and also the SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) corrected BHP number if he's got it. SAE 'Corrected' is usually always quoted in 'Brake' HP. HP (especially with american dynos like DynoJet / DynoDynamics is usually always wheel hp).

No way a revo'd K03s lump makes 150bhp, that's b0llocks. Hell, even stock Polos make 165bhp all day long. 150 to the wheels sounds about right to me, so take it as that and move on 8)

And there is no way an 02J transmission and VW brakes would cause only a ~ 12 loss on the dyno, sorry  More like 30-35bhp.
