Heard today that my car is in the country and will be with my dealer on the 13th for collection!!

New Guy here joining the crew! Moving from a 1.2 TSI to a beautiful Blue Silk GTi, which came off the Nordic Ace yesterday. Pick up is next week Thursday. Will be going in blind as no test drive was available. Excited!

Hi All,
New here and just waiting on my new Polo GTI.

I've been told that my car was in transit as of the 27th April and VW live chat tell me today that its in port over in Spain but wouldn't tell me the name of the ship.

Obviously I'm like a child waiting for Christmas waiting for the new car so mega keen.

Does anyone else have a car in transit and have anymore info on when it should be arriving in the UK, or does anyone know how much longer I should be waiting for my new pocket rocket.

I am currently waiting for mine (a white polo gti 5 door) as you say was also marked as in transit on the 26th, so I imagine mine will be coming on the same boat as yours perhaps.

I spoke to VW on their live chat last week and they said that it was built in pamplona in Spain but would be shipped from Emden in Germany. They said that until it reaches port they cant track it (i am presuming this is because its going over land from Spain to Germany) but it would then be shipped from Emden to Grimsby. They couldnt tell me when though, but did say to contact them this week and they will then be able to give me more detail. I plan to contact them on Thursday so if i learn more I will let you know.

Mine is a 5 door so I dont know if its different, but also i read somewhere they use 3 different ports dependent on where its gonna end up. So if you're somewhere else it could be the procedure may be different.

Keep pushing your dealers for updates, any car built in Spain will get shipped out of Spain up to Emden, then shipped in a local transporter ship to UK.

Edit:- this shipping direct from factory to UK or shipped from factory to Emden then on to UK does seem to depend on the volume of cars being moved at that shipping period.

Sorry for the late reply. Week 3 I think it was.

Just for info my gti was built start of May, sat at Santander for three weeks then went direct to sheerness on city of Paris, where it sat for another ten days before dealer got the car.
