Had a lot of trouble with this mate. Mine turned out to be a filthy throttle body a good clean and all my idling problems were sorte out and no more epc light.

Yeah I tried that but no luck, bastard cars ha. If your brakelights still work then it may be an ecu problem or throttle problem apparently. Thankfully mines the brake switch ha.

Yeh when my switch went it meant the pedal wasn't making contact with the switch so my brake lights were on all the time. Still threw up this light and made the car run like a sloppy old mans pooh

Would I sell the car? Never in a million years.
these cars can be so cruel to us! How do you find the sach clutch? I'm trying to pick what to go for but have no idea,

:D  that last bit made me smile.
I can't see myself getting rid of GTI for anything really.

alexperkins wrote:Why exactly do you need a driveshaft verity!? these don't break.... Its cheaper to just replace the consumable parts being the inner and outer CV joints!!
When I was being talked thru by the tech I was literally writting everything he said as it was all going over my head  , in the end tho I only ordered the; I think it was called  'CV Joint End' for £75 (im guessing thats the same as what you said) and only did the one, as apparently they either have play in them and they don't and the one was perfectly fine

That was nice, a hellova lot cheaper then I thought it was gonna be
Godderz23 wrote:Sorry to hear the polos not doing well. Mine's in a bit of a state at the moment aswell.

Just do bits at a time when possible until its all done.
Cheers man, i hope your polos ok, nothing to serious i hope
I'm deffinatly taking it all slow, probably wont all be done until beginning of next year....I think Christmas and birthday is gonna have to help pay for some of this :( boo. But as long as it all get done, and done properly I'll be happy :)

Another panic light that turns out to be a brake light switch luckily but still crap....
Haha bless
our cars like to keep us sweatin don't they! Haha hope you get it sorted asap!!

Trunkz wrote:My EPC light came on today! I switched off the car, started it back up again, and it disappeared though.. It must be toying with my emotions again
Ahh bless you! It's just keeping you on your toes!! ;) I hope nothing comes of it, and the car was just giving you a little 'made you jump'

Update

Ok. So as of Wednesday GTI (by the way, as I don't think I've ever written it in this thread- I pronounce it Ger-tie. A bit like Gerty.)
Anywhoo. GTI unofficially came off the road. I'm still keeping insurance and such, so I can drive him occasionally.
I just hope to save a bit of money fuel wise and give him a bit of a rest, and take it slow with fixing him.

In the meantime I'm getting around in my old car Prudence (Perodua Kelisa)

Image

I've owned her for 4 years and is in all honesty an amazing little car. She got crashed into 3 years ago (363 days after i got her) but my dad got her fixed up and uses her for around town, and dog walks.
Shes cheap to run in all ways, has an amazing turning circle, never ever goes wrong, is super simple to drive, and although is slow, she feels nippy, so driving is never stressfull. The only problem is she doesn't handle. At all. Which can be a bit hair raising at times lol...oh plus the abuse I get from friends, apparently most people prefer to be seen in S3s and Type Rs

Anyway. So far I've brought some Coilovers second hand, which arrived the next day.
And I've got most of my VW bits ordered.
I think I'm getting booked in some time this week for my new custom exhaust.
So that'll probably be the first thing that gets done on the car :)
So I'll get some photos when that's done :D
