diy isnt the problem. i can do that, im currently in the middle of doing loads of body work to my car, filling in the 'vw' sign on the boot, removing all the bump strips and filling in the holes, painting the b pillars black, painting the wing mirrors black, filling in the notch on the front of the bonnet. dunno wats next after that, prob redo all my lights. going for dark lights now.

Can someone explain to me how you guys learn this stuff? Really, is there some sort of secret magical book/manual that you guys have read? I'm a noob and I don't know where to start from and all I can think about is my car!

practise practise practise. u find out about what u need to do the work first i.e body filler sand paper primer paint lacquer and when u do the work the more time u spend with the preping in other words the filling and sanding and priming to make sure u get a perfectly smooth surface the better the top coat of paint will be but u will need to use wet and dry (fine) inbetween coats and on the primer to get a smooth finish. if ur using halfords paints chances are the paint wont be a perfect match but it would be ok.

also patiants is necessary. i been working on my back bumper and its taken about 3 days so far cause when the primer is on u can notice any scratches or small holes etc in the filler underneath so u can sort it all out befor the top coat. hopefully i'll aort it all out today and tomorrow.

It's indeed all just part of practis, jut start something, and don't fear to take sh*tloads of time to complete it the first time (and if the first time fails, just do it again,.... and again....and again if neccessary )

If I kept trying again and again all that would be left of my car would be the axle.

First of all, finally got time to start working on the head, starting porting the inletchannels.

Here's the results, below the inlets from the old ADX head, above the new inlets of the AEA head, with a bit of Jarno's work in it

Thanks reason I can afford most of it is because I do almost everything myself, some with a little help from friends of course, but doing most yourself saves a lot of money, which of course can then be funded in the car again

The set-up comes from G.A.S. (German Airride Systems), it is second hand, the V1 set (simplest version available), small 12v compressor, 11,5 litre tank, 2 pressure gauges, nothing special really, but am gonna get me a moisture filter, to keep water out of the tank, cause it can start corroding the tank from the inside. Someone I know bought it half a year ago, got it installed but now is selling his ride completely standard, so he's taking it off, and I'm putting it on. This V1 kit costs new 1999 euro, of course I didn't pay this much
