Yeh without the badge looks much better :) there's no need to make a small cutout as it sits just right and don't want to ruin the bumper :) don't think I'm going to lower as I'm only going to have the car another 15 months before I get alex's GTI 8)

Would rather spend money on a few little bits for the GTI so it's perfect for when I get it :D

Re: Greg's Silver Polo Progress Thread - Pedal Box

Post by gregperkins »

A couple of weeks ago, i heard a strange creeking noise in my clutch. Got my bro to look at it, and he said the welding on the pedal box had nearly snapped (I hear this is a common problem on polos). Today the pedal box was changed, took a look at the old one and the fracture in the welding was quite bad and close to snapping.

It was a bit fiddly, as the whole steering column had to come off and so did the clocks. There was two bolts which were a bit of a nightmare getting to, but got them off in the end :D
It's all back together now, and it feels slightly smoother. Now I need a new clutch as my one is nearly worn out, which is going to be sorted in a couple of weeks.

All thanks to my bro 8)

My clutch pedal has been creaking and sqeeking for ages. I havnt really found it to be a major annoyance.

I would imagine so! But since, it has been to a garage a few times for services and MOT's and they have failed to notice it being a problem..

Re: Greg's Silver Polo Progress Thread - New clutch

After being put off for as long as possible, my clutch finally decided it needed replacing. It's just been gradually getting worse and worse with a really irritating creeking noise causing it to be really stiff.

My bro very kindly offered to do it for me on Saturday taking roughly 5 hours. The drive of the car now is so good compared to how it was. Some of the bolts were a nightmare to screw back up, but we got there in the end and all is good!

It was the original clutch - 11 years old, 64,500 miles so about average really.

Need my rear tyres replacing next, and thats about it for maintenance atm.

Got no plans for it in the next year, its staying exactly how it is now :D

Cheers, Greg 8)
