Haha!! So should have done!
He looked kinda scared of me at one point as it was (don't think he was expecting such a rage from a little blonde) would be amazing to see his face if I started smashing stuff lol

Thank you for your sympathy guys <3 I knew you would all understand my annoyance

26.11.2011 - New Tyres

Nothing special tyre wise, just cheap and cheerful.
I love a big bit of tread

3.12.2011 - A Few bits

Jack drove the Polo into VW and got to work.
Managed to do ...

The passenger wheel was stupidly wobblely, the wheel bearing had deffinatly seen better days!
And the rear brake has also been de-seized, so hopefully the car won't squeak when I brake whilst reversing.

Image

Image

When he put the car down the CV Joint popped off
So up it went again.  And James one of the techs ripped off the boot and helped to put it all back on. Lowered it back down, reversed out of the garage, and GRIIIIND!! off again!

They think maybe it's the wrong one or something, so for now Gerti is at VW.
Amongst good company ;)

Would've been sooo funny... And you would've felt a little better ;-)

I'm pretty sure I speak for everyone on here when I say we all feel sorry for anyone and there polo's in these times of stress :-)

I'm sure you'll be back on the road shortly :-D
Like you said he's in good company

6.12.11 -
Got a phone call from Jack telling me the new mirror glass had arrived but that it turns out the whole unit was broken, meaning an all new wing mirror *stress*

So I got on the phone and left a message with the prat who had done the damage. Told him to phone me back ASAP and left 3 numbers to contact me on.

9.12.11 -
New parts arrived in at VW, so phoned The Wing Mirror Destroyer again as he never bothered to phone me back(three days later). Left another message, telling him the price and gave him a number of options of how to pay.
Get home after work to find a message on my phone from Mrs. Road Hog (got to love how a grown man got his wife to fight his battles for him ) she said it was Her car, Her Insurance and that she had contacted her insurance company, and all I had to do was phone mine.

So I did -
Turns out wingmirror wacking is a hard thing to prove who's at fault.
Made the girl on the phone go on google maps and look at the road it happened on, as there are clear white boxes up the one side of the road showing where cars can park (and proving the cars were on his side)
She said that as my insurance company they will try to fight my corner, but it's a third party who decide who's at fault. And that more often then not they just say its 50/50.
Which means = I would loose 2 years no claims, and would have to pay my excess/half of the damages. Which means I would be paying like 20x more then if I just brought the parts myself.
Apparently even if it's proven 99% his fault and 1% mine, I still loose 2years no claims and all, so I really have no choice but to leave it.
I'm pretty narked off.
Mrs. Car wrecker obviously phoned her car insurance to be told, that I probably wouldn't want to claim as I risk my no claims, so she said to go thru insurance knowing I would end up doing nothing about it.
I've been pretty bitter since as I hate that fact that theres no justice, hes got away with it scot free!
But i have come to the realisation that Mr. I rule the roads, has 14 years bad luck heading his way (he did brake mine and his mirrors ;)

Also my insurer wanted to get my car picked up and taken to their garage to have the work done.
For a freaking wing mirror! I told her I had already orders the parts and the car was already at a main dealers where I get all my work done, not their cheap cut corners indie garage.
.... If I ever buy a new car, I'm deffintly getting VW Ensurance!!!

10.12.11 -
Picked GTI up from VW. First time I'd seen him for a week <3

11.12.11 -
Took Polo to the Unit to do some work.
Managed to fit the new coil overs

Image

Some second hand  Weitec Hicon I picked up a few months back.

Image

Also brought new Bolts, and new top strut mounts

And also fitted the New Wing mirror.

Image

Image

Image

11 years worth of dirt build up lol
Quick wipe down

Image

And on with the new Wing mirror :)
Also noticed whilst fitting my window is scratched, from the old wingmirror glass smacking into it

The cap is at the painters getting sprayed. Shouldn't be to long until I have it back.

Ended up getting a stubby in the end as my SE had a stubby which I always preferred. And thought; hell if I've gotta replace it, I might as well make it how I like it.

12.12.11 -

went back to the unit in the morning to adjust the coil overs.
I'd left them set on what I guess the previous owner had them on, which was far to low for me. I don't like really low cars, so I felt a bit silly, and not being able to get up my driveway, and barely able to make it on the boyfs drive was frustrating. My poor splitter wasn't happy.

Managed to do my door catch stop thing as well, my door now feels brand new, holds itself nicely and doesn't make a loud clicking noise.

Image

Also replaced the little plastic bit as the old one had white grease stains on it.

Image

Whilst the door card was off stuck all new Door Clips in, and used the VW black Tac to stop any rattles.... Just the rest of the car to do now ;)

Then in the afternoon got the tracking and camber done. Apparently it was 'out, waaay out' lol

Nice one Verity :)

How are you find the coilovers, are they a lot harsher than your old set up?

Nice work Verity :)

Sorry to hear about the insurance ordeal though. When i hear about stuff like this, it really f*cks me off im afraid. I feel that we pay so much just for a document that says we are insured but when the sh*t hits the fan we are not covered. I know not everyone takes pride in their cars but people like us do.... a lot!

Rant over with lol

It is a long process with finding the correct height. I am still not happy with mine but one day it will ..... one day

Cheers Matt
we pay so much just for a document that says we are insured
put perfectly! ive given hundreds and only got a piece of paper in return! sickening!
i think it should be that all the money we give to insurers should go into a biggy bank. if we need the money (ie for a wingmirror ;) ) then we get some money out of our pot. and if we dont claim in so many years we get some money back.
i would actually love to see a break down of where our money goes. i know £20k cars get written off and they have to pay up and such. but im 100% sure they are better off money wise then they make out.

my mates car was stolen for its engine. he got the car back (with no help for the police) and hes know fighting his insurance company to get money from them
they got him to send out some photos and replied with a letter saying, 'we dont think the car you have given us is your car.' they came up with a load of reason why, which included - 'in X photo you gave us there is a sticker in the back window. but the car we have here, there is no sticker'. complete p-take isnt it!

Coilovers transform the handling on a GTI, despite the loss of comfort its worth it for those B Road blasts :)

I'm sure you will love them

That does sound ridiculous dude. They always try and worm their way out for smallest of reasons. Really makes my blood boil. I must have spent close to what i bought the car for and i have only had it 2 years!

Also got my mirror cap back the other day, which has gone on.

Thank You Bradley :D
the 600d is a fab bit of kit. my sister started with one of those when she first started photography, hers after a while developed a problem, which i have found other people have suffered with, so fingers crossed it doesnt happen with this one. Jack wanted a camera to take photos of his detailing work, so a lot of detail was needed in the photos which hopefully the 600D should do a good job at..... plus he loved the fact that it sees colour lol

Finally got round to a mini photo shoot with Bekki (http://www.uk-polos.net/view ... =7&t=54309)
Just went to a local common, between our houses. there was a damn Corsa parked right where we wanted to do the photos. so we had to try and do angles, to avoid getting the corsa in the photos lol
