Mine was built w/c the 16/09, 2 days later the tracking said that it was 'In Transit' it's been like that since, the dealer says it should be with them by the middle of the month, the track my order page on the VW web site states it takes 4 weeks to reach the dealer from build so mid Oct is about right.
I wish it would hurry up though.........

My GTI was ordered from drivethedeal end of August, spoke to the dealer for the first time 4th September. The tracker was showing build week confirmed (29/09/13) by the 14th. The tracker skipped 'build in progress' and went to 'in transit' this morning. Four weeks from now should see it outside my house, so about 8-9 weeks from order.
Much better than the standard 12-14 weeks quoted early on.

Is it something I should be expecting now the build week has more or less passed?
Should be the order number on your paperwork. Mine wasn't on there but one quick call to the dealer and he gave it to me over the phone as well as to reassure me once it's in the UK he'll ring and let me know the reg for the insurance.
As if by magic she emailed me back with it this evening. Awesome! Feels more real now!

Off you go to watching the track my order site..
Although I'm heartened to re-read this thread to see it does actually lag behind the actual status.

So I logged onto the tracking site, punched in my number and the first thing I noticed (after the status being wrong! - lol) was that the Upholstery on screen isn't the one I ordered! I'm hoping it's a system error rather than them ordering the wrong thing, although I can't exactly grumble if they have as it's the £800 option for Alcantara sports seats. I didn't particularly want them, I preferred the standard blue seats, but if it's a mistake on the order I'll accept it (for free!)
I've emailed my saleswoman and asked her to double check it. If I'd had the tracking number earlier I'd have notified them earlier!

I guess you didnt order the winter pack or xenons as you cant have them with the seats I think. Having the seats might be a nice bonus but losing something else might not be so good..

That's what I'm worried about - what if they've missed something else off the order and given me seats instead? Not sure where I'd stand in that situation? Hopefully she'll confirm it's just a system error and all is well....

Look forward to all your advice.

Hey. I've had my Blue GT for about 3 weeks now. Mpg wise it was a bit less than expected at first I still got the 60-70 Mpg on the motorway but around town it was struggling some times in the low 20's. anyway either my driving style has changed or the engine has settled down a bit but now I average about 45-55 around town and the two cylinder mode seems to cut in alot more than when I first got it. Love the car buy one dude!
If in doubt. Flat out!

Actually on running costs, i'd be interested how the tyres are wearing for those who've covered a good number of miles.
One of my bugbears with the peugeot is the cost and frequency of tyre replacement (sames size, etc as the polo ones). I don't rag the car, borne by the fact the tyre wear is even, they just seem to wear down quick..
I resorted to Avons from Bridgestones some time ago as I couldnt justify £180 a corner every time...

did a trial fit of my 15" steelies today to double check they clear the front calipers (they are for GTI/GT but we've all heard that before)
in terms of tyre wear at 8,000 miles, front are an even 6mm and rears are an even 7mm so pretty pleased and will be rotated after winter
