Sounds like a good deal with your mate doing the cambelt, tensioners & water pump too, I had mine done early last year at VW and they charged me a fortune.

That reminds me I need to get my Gearbox Oil changed too, its certainly on the list anyway.

Your Car is coming along nicely now, I think you made the right choice with coilovers too 8)
Difficult decision to make but its worth while, they're alot easier on the eye when their sitting 50-60mm lower than the standard set-up.
Thanks Ben,yeh i mean i'll give him some money for doing it but it will be a darn sight cheaper than the dealer.Im going to get an annual oil/oil filter change done by them to reatin the full VW service history though.Yeh it certainately does look alot better lowered, mines only down about 40mm at the moment many will moan it's not low enough but i think it's fine.I think if you go too low on the standard RX2's they start to look sill and hide away in the arch.
quiksilveralex wrote:Really like this... the original looks can easily be lost with over modification etc but by retaining the original looks with some improvements the car is spot on! Looks even better in the flesh! :D

Keep up the good work brad!!
Thanks alex, thats very kind dude.Looking foward to seeing your car all sorted, roll on the 6th.

Well on thursday evening i decided i wasn't 100% happy with how the suspension was sitting so i had a measure up and confrimed my thoughts of the front looking lower. So i made some adjustments to the rears and made them match the front.

Today i got my car back from the garage, had full four wheel alignment, camber, tracking the lot.I must admit i didn't think i would notice the difference but it definately has changed the feel of the front end.Steering is back how it was origionally when i bought it,feels alot better so im very happy.

Heres a picture i took of the current height etc.I think it's the height they should have left the factory with.

Going to get the service and MOT etc out the way first Ben,managed to pester VW with a price id been given buy a local specialist and they matched it in the end.£401 for the lot to be done so i was quite happy. Not looking foward to them trying to say i need this and that blah blah though. After that i'll be looking into some OEM parts for the car i think, got a few little ideas i'd like to look into.

Well lastnight and today have been fairly constructive.

I whipped the front wheels off and had it on axle stands so that i could get the tyres changed over for two new Continental sport contact 2's that i had bought.Whilst it was up i had been meaning to repaint the calipers and clean out the arches for months now.So i gave the arches a good clean out (was alot of crap in there) took some brushing but 85% of the muck is now out and beleive it or not the arches were silver underneath haha.I repeated the process on the back too once the new tyres were on and the wheels were back on the car.Whilst the wheels were off i also gave the inside dishes a clean out from dust etc,i think im going to have to get the wheels fully refurbished this time and not lacquer the outside edge as i noticed parts starting to look tatty :( .

Quite pleased i got it done as i'd been meaning to do it for ages now and it dosent look half bad the paint on the calipers,i didn't go mad but did three coats on all calipers with them still on the car.It was to tidy them up abit and stop them looking so pink.

Still MOT,Oil replacement and cambelt change on thursday.
