Really surprises me

True, I saw on Google that the part is there, but all pics are from 6R and if they didn't cut costs, yes, the part was lost/stolen/not mounted.

Going from my 6R into a 6C the plastic on the stalks and vents look and feel a lot cheaper in the 6C in my opinion. So it might be a cost cutting issue...

Maybe is the impression caused by the black gloss plastic in the stalks, about the air vents they lost the chrome frame. In return, some parts are improved (door locking button, 'metal' trim in the inner door, steering...overall, I honestly thing that 6C is an improvement.

The air vents look the same to me.... and 'Air Vents Surround in Matt Chrome' is listed on VW's website as being standard on everything other than S, S A/C, and weirdly the GTI. Same with the Matt Chrome door handles.

I rather like the new indicator stalks personally.

The Air vent sorrounds are gloss black in the GTI and BlueGT as stock. That's why they don't come in matt chrome on them. :)

I don't argue that the new stalks is a nice design. But I don't like the feel of them. The plastic feels cheap. But that's just my oppinion. :)

There's gloss black around them, but in the 'normal' cars that's matt black plastic. Chrome's still there though... Nothing seems to have changed bar the new wheel, indicator stalks, and radio. Same glossy bits!

^Thank God they toned the interior down on the Blue GT. That's one of the main reasons I went for it - subdued power. All that red stitching, plaid seats and that ghastly red stripe along the font grill that now runs into the headlights on the new GTI looks terrible, IMO.

IMHO, the stalks look better now, they are 'light' and simple as some the buttons moved to the steering. I miss the 'man shape with the arrow' in the air vent frames, that went worst in 6C. This is a small car, we cannot expect more for this price and only Audi A1 and MINI are better made...both overpriced I guess.

4.100 Km and everything goes OK. Time to go beyond 4.500 rpm :P

I'm picking mine up this week (between Wednesday and Friday, it's currently on a transport lorry) and was told the new engines don't need much of a running in and cn be given the beans from the off. I'm guessing this isn't true?

This is my understanding too, I'll probably be nice for a thousand or so miles before the red line. (or follow the manufacturers handbook).

Yes they can. Engines are redlined at the factory to ensure they are up to the job.

The running in period is a thing of the past. Engines today are made with micro milimeter precision today.

Back in the day it was because the parts wasn't made to the precision and needed to get worn in to fit each other in the engine. That's a thing of the past now.
