Redline wrote::roll: Oh well, it's taking my mind of revision.

1. You made some statement from some apparent 'VW Sales Executive' claiming that:
VW's are not built in Germany anymore.
2. I post a link to a website that shows whilst yes, some models are built outside of Germany, VW still produces models like the Golf in plants such as Wolfburg.

3. Note how your statement that VW's are 'not built in Germany anymore' is therefore wrong.
How can my statement be 'incorrect'....when some VW's are built in Country's other than Germany. For my statement to be classed as 'incorrect', all known modern day VW's would have to be built in Germany, ok.

Why don't you head over there now and give us 'poor' VW owners a break.

BTW, i'm certain there are a few posts about problems with reliability etc on there.

I don't really care if the build quality REALLY isn't as good, because the build quality in the Mk7 is excellent. Actually the whole car is excellent. I read reviews stating the Polo is dull to drive and it is so not true. Coming from a Fiesta which has the handling and drivers reputation, I was surprised how good the Polo is. It handles well and I always look forward to getting in it, and this is a crappy 1.4.

I've yet to drive the GTI but I know it's gonna be great when I finally find one :D

As my friend is a VW sales executive.....he has his pick of any car within the VW family, I have traveled in the New Golf GTI, the new Polo GTI, the Phaeton, etc, etc.
Dont get me wrong they are nice cars, but personally I would not purchase one with my own money.

Yet despite all that, you still went out and bought a Veedub :?:

Think you're using a JCB to dig that hole now.

My vehicle was sold...before I had the opportunity to travel in the above mentioned vehicles.
The vehicle which is purchased was worth £4,500 and the average price of the vehicles that I have traveled in is around £16,000, so I am saying that I would not spend £16,000 of my own money on a VW..........get it right.

So what would you spend £16,000 of your own money on, a Ford? Theres not much better new cars out there for £16,000 than a VW unless you want an ugly jap car or a very basic Audi or BMW. Do you always talk out of your arse because it sounds like it

I think this thread should be closed as its getting out of hand the poor guy came on with a pretty valid statement about the gearbox being a trouble spot on a Polo GTi which it is. Hes had a bad experiance which has put him off VWs, if you were to have bought a Polo Gti then two days later have to pay £1800 for a new box and clutch (from VW anyway) would you be happy ? I know he got it under warranty which was lucky for him, his opinion of there are better cars than a VW is his opinion which can not be wrong. Other folk may have different ones but theres no need to take the crap out of him.
