Golf gti is supposed to be alot more reliable although a friend of mine has had one for about a year and has been plagued with problems.I'd go for the polo gti, i think its better looking and has alot more stlying over the standard polo (whereas the golf gti literally has a badge on the back). you have some exclusivity as well and extras like climate control and xenons that you are unlikely to have on the golf. The golf gti IS faster though even if it is heavier (1.8T version). To be honest though the TDI of the golf is better than the GTI so its a bit of a difficult choice.

I love my polo & even if my gearbox maybe on the way out already, its far too much fun to complain. Sure I wont feel like that when I get the bill though!
