Just fired off an email to VW South Africa to see if they can help.

Any reasonable person in these days of complex computer systems would expect that VW would know where every ordered and built car would be at all times. Otherwise someone at Port Elizabeth could stick a few hundred Polos on transporters and syphon them away to Libya ( other countries are available for stolen cars!) without VW knowing.
Either their computer system is broken or they are hopeless or maybe both.
If Google can guess which brand of toothpaste I am going to buy next ,surely one of the biggest and most successful companies in the world should be able to say where their cars are. "Swearword " hopeless!
I wish I really did not want the car so that I could cancel, but cannot find any options.
As mentioned previously, an enquiry with VW customers services chat, and they replied with the name of the vessel mine is on without me asking. I have no idea what differentiates my experience with yours.

Tried the chat system twice plus two emails to customer services and every time got the same answer. They said they have no information about the location of a specific car until it leaves Emden. This is weird. I have emailed VW South Africa to try a different approach.

Just got a call from VW at last with real information. ( nearly complete!)
They say our car , which was built and in transit on 8 th June is on one of two ships. She could not get through to the appropriate department to say which ship.
It is on either Galaxy Ace arriving on the 2 nd July OR Green Ridge which arrives on the 7 th July. She said to call again after the 2 nd to see whether it has arrived.
Not exactly what I wanted but at least I now know it is on a ship and not festering on a South African dock.
I hope this helps others with similar build dates.
The lady said that some information on their system is marked for customers and some not, which may explain why I have not been told before, because the person who answered the call would not delve deep enough. :D

How much extra kit did you order?
Order too much and it gets delayed imo.

Hi johnpolo2
I didn't order any extra as was quite happy with it as it is. I don't really need sat nav but if need be I can use through the car net app with my phone. I ordered the white as my last two - an r line and then GT were both black. Good choice! I've tried to attach a pic but not sure if it worked😳

Thank you, seeing the pics of the new GTi’s helps ease the waiting. I really like those Parker alloys.
Good health to enjoy!

HI PilotRossi91

It will take a while, don't hold your breath. But it will be worth the wait. This Polo regardless of grade or spec is just so well made. I am enjoying every second of mine. Its no GTI+ so I am sure you will get great fun out of the extra horse power. I am making do with 115hp in my SEL. I hope to avoid the speeding fines that would inevitably follow if I had the 198HP car. Good luck and enjoy it when you get it.
