Golf7.5 Memory module that automatically deactivates the Start/Stop system by default.

To test, I tried to disable the Start-Stop system by coding with VCDS, but it doesn't work for my GW (AR version).

Following in the footsteps of my dear Doctor Patil

viewtopic.php?p=603430#p603430, I have purchased a wiring harness from Ali for Golf7.5 that integrates an electronic circuit/module that allows 'to the driver' to decide how the Start-Stop system works by default.
- Deactivates/shutdown the S/S system by default from the first ignition without having to press the S/S button.
- Or it keeps the S/S system working as it did from the factory.
- It remember the driver's last choice for the next ignition.
- There are no faults in the diagnosis.

Checking all wires in the Ali's wiring-harness, + some old info.

Golf 7.5 Removing Ali's Start/Stop memory module.

At first everything seemed fine but after a few days of testing Ali's Start/Stop memory module and despite the my highly witty efforts

to get 'this' Star/Stop memory module working on our Golf7.5 (with highly updated software), I have decided to remove this Start/Stop memory module because it randomly causes failures/malfunctions in the software of some control units.
They are loss of low priority messages, sometimes in some units and other times in other different units. For reference it is similar to what happens when changing the voltage value in the GW adaptation channel (Start_stop_voltage_limit, from 7.8v to 12v).

$10 = R.I.P. ... it was entertaining while it lasted.

Once the module has been removed and our Golf returned to an Original state, I take the car for a walk and then do a new Autoscan with the new VCDS Update.

Testing the height of 'my' DCC damping.

Test on a standard pedestrian sidewalk height.

I still have to do another 1000kms for the front shock absorbers/struts to lower a little more. (5 to 10mm)

It's just a test, I never invade pedestrian space.

Golf 7.5. Left rear level/height sensor/sender replacement (G76). 5Q0907503 (5Q0512521E).

5Q0907503 is the level sensor - used for the front or rear axles -.
5Q0512521E is the parts assembly for a rear torsion axle.

Since I had the happy idea

of cleaning the rear axle with high-pressure water jet - when I installed the new blue rear brake calipers - ...

... I have been randomly experiencing a malfunction of the left rear level sensor, mechanical failure according to diagnosis.

By doing a new ignition cycle, the fault disappears and everything works fine again for a while until the Light Assist and AFS system (cornering lights) malfunction warnings are displayed on the AID and info system again.

I have replaced the sensor for a new one and everything works correctly now, the fault has not reappeared.

Stainless steel bolts, same as those factory installed on the sensor.
I also installed new M5 stainless steel rivet nuts of better quality than the original ones.

A meaningless look at the other side...

everything seems fine after 1500Km on our magic carpet.

This is the rear level sensor that was causing the problem:
- Dirty.

- Clean (for inspection).

It's the one I installed when installing the 8IU Matrix LED headlights. viewtopic.php?p=578709#p578709, viewtopic.php?p=576562#p576562

Inspection:

The sensor shaft/rotor has no axial play, but it has a small/micrometric radial play/clearance, which seems to be enough for its malfunction.

Golf 7.5 (3Q0) New Start/Stop memory module.

I have purchased and installed a New Memory Module for the Start-Stop button (2, image above), which after a few days of testing everything seems to work as it should for our Golf7.5 (3Q0 GW, AR version). I still have it under long-term testing.

The first Start-Stop memory module I bought viewtopic.php?p=604231#p604231 was poorly wired, or rather it was horribly wired, because it had the rows of wires interchanged and in addition it used the positive signal +15 (T10/10) as a reference (instead of 58d).

A real disaster that I had to correct to make it 'work'.

Since I installed the 312mm front brakes I need a 16" or 'higher' spare wheel for the front axle wheels in case I have any issues/incident with the front wheels... or 'maintenance work'.
To avoid any type of dependency (towing, etc...) I have acquired a new original 18" space-saving emergency wheel to carry along with the Helix Sound System and the Tire Mobility System in the spare wheel compartment.

Notable improvement in overall sound quality.
I can only say that the Helix Subwoofer on top of this spare wheel is quite a bit better than without this spare wheel... now it's even nicer how well defined and crisp the bass feels.
BTW, I finally programmed my Helix SS to channel/program 97 (instead of 57), I love it.

Golf 7.5 Geometry. Wheel alignment.

After completing 2000km -according to erWin- with the new DCC struts/shock absorbers viewtopic.php?p=603903#p603903, all the parameters/angles are within tolerances -in green- according to the wheel alignment platform/computer of my usual trusted wheel shop. Same parameters as in erWin.

I observe on the workshop computer that the parameters on the front axle -in green- tend to be slightly divergent/toe-out for the toe angle, but I prefer that the operator not make any type of adjustment in the steering rods because the car goes/running straight, there is no uneven wear on the tread of the wheels, braking at any speed is perfect/straight, and the steering wheel self-aligns in the right way after the turns and is centered/straight.
The angles can even vary/change slightly by simply tightening the steering rod nuts, in fact this is what usually happens.

If any adjustment is necessary in the wheel alignment angles, it is necessary to make/check the basic setting of the steering angle sensor G85 if the adjustment is on the front axle, and the basic setting of the ACC radar and the A5 camera if it's on the rear axle.
I recommend reading erWin to meet the prerequisites for checking geometry.

Golf7.5. Climatronic. How to align the receptacle of a climatronic/aircon/heating flap control motor with the flap actuator arm.

When installing a flap control motor it is necessary to align the control motor receptacle (1) with the flap actuator arm (2), erWin indicates a procedure, which involves turning on the ignition, but this does not suit me...

With a 9 volt battery can be easily aligned the position of the receptacle.

One of the flap control motors in our Golf has started making a weird sound/noise, it can be heard in this video

from 0:50 to 0:53., it doesn't always happen, but it happens with high frequency.
I have been investigating with an endoscope and VCDS/VAS output tests, but the observations are inconclusive... or it is the defroster flap control motor V107 or the front air distribution flap control motor V426... It may also be the set of gears that are driven by the V426.

To try to find out and fix this weird sound/noise, I will start by first removing V107...

Doing more tests, I have continued to try to find out where the weird sound is coming from, and it seems to be coming from the 'light green rubber' on the defrost flap.

Golf 7.5 Climatronic. Defrost flap noise. Fresh air vs Hot air.

Tests / observations / investigations.

The endoscope does not have a microphone and the images do not have good resolution because the endoscope only offers good resolution near the object to be inspected. However this video was very helpful because when the light green rubber surrounding the front air distribution flap sits in place, it makes exactly the same noise as the defrost air flap, although in this case it is only when the front air distribution flap sits, not all rotation.

I do not put the endoscope through the windshield defrosting holes, there is a high probability that it will get stuck due to the moderate rigidity of the camera wire... and that doesn't suit me.

Instead, I record the weird sound while I touch the defrost air flap buttons and other buttons in the following video.

The noise is not so loud in real life, the camera's microphone slightly amplifies this sound, and as seen in the video, with the hot air (HI) the noise is mitigated.

Due to these observations, I conclude that the noise comes from the light green rubber that surrounds the defrost air flap and which in turn is present in the axis of rotation of the flap. Red circles in the following image.

These are my first findings, but until the flap control motors V426 and V107 are removed I will not be able to say exactly the cause of the noise.

The idea to try to fix this noise will be to use pure Vaseline wherever it is possible to reach... (I will have to study the possible ointments).
I will report what is new as I remove parts, there are many, it will take me some time.

Edit..

- The air conditioning/climatronic system in our Golf has always worked correctly, there are no faults detected in the diagnosis (see last Autoscan posted on this page).
- I have always used the highest quality active carbon air filters with the high filtration capacity for the air conditioning systems of my cars, renewed at each Service/Inspection (earlier than recommended).
- Before starting removing parts, I am going to do a few sessions with the hot air (HI) selecting the position of the defrosting air flap to try to get the light green rubber on defrost flap to acquire another 'structure, texture, consistency', ...and see if this way miraculously it stops making the noise...

During these last few days, I have been doing a couple of sessions with the Hot air every day, between 5 to 10 minutes...

Miraculously, the noise has almost completely disappeared, although it can still be heard when the rubber of defrost air flap sits... presumably a couple more sessions with the Hot air will be enough for the noise to disappear in its entirety.

My final conclusion is that due to the environmental conditions of the last few weeks/months (spring/summer rains), and perhaps the conditions in which I retrofitted the DCC system... , some moisture condensed in the air distribution box.
Can it happen again? of course, but I will already know that the noise is irrelevant... you already know, we get older and we acquire 'experience'.

Edit... June 7, 2024.

After a couple of days and a new couple of sessions with hot air, the noise from the defrosting air flap has disappeared definitively, 100%.
Now it seems like we are driving a luxury car... EVERYTHING works like a charm without any type of noise even on bumpy/rough roads.
Many sacrifices to achieve it...

By the way, in case you are interested, I can now confirm that the 2nd Start/Stop memory module that I installed (info on this page) also works like a charm, no type of setback in operation or diagnosis. Works great even with FPA in ECO Mode, the comfort it provides is Great!

Although I have planned a new retrofit on our Golf, that I will report in the following posts once I have all the parts, now I will be more active in the thread of my 6R R-line to install the Lane Change (BSD).

They look great, they are almost perfect

The wiring colors vary slightly if your Side Assist system is from the factory. You can consult diagrams in this thread (e.g. viewtopic.php?p=572297#p572297 , viewtopic.php?p=592068#p592068 ).

I recommend that under no circumstances cut, lose or throw away the original white mirror connector, it is a tiny diamond...

I recommend having both warning lights connected, the original (below) and the new one (above).

Note:
1- Are any diagnostic errors caused by having the four Side Assist warning lights connected? NO, the watts consumed do not affect its operation. All LEDs are 12 volts.

2- Our brain receives a lot of data while we drive, and knowing that other vehicles have the Side Assist system because the LED in their mirrors lights up is relevant information for other drivers. Personally, it helps me make better decisions in my driving style (it's one more piece of information, just that).
This is why I recommend leaving the mirror's original LEDs connected.

3- The Passat B8's warning lights in the mirror caps are clearly visible even if the sun shines directly on them, I think the system takes data from the light sensor (RLHS) because they are perfectly visible in any conditions.

Our Golf has 2Q0 radars installed and currently have these parameters loaded. Now our Side Assist 'Plus' is 'Double Plus'
