That happened on my GTI a while back. Quite easy to fix. You just get a new handle insert from VW (about a fiver) and then just transfer the lock. Takes all of 5 minutes

Aye, that's the plan.alexperkins wrote:That happened on my GTI a while back. Quite easy to fix. You just get a new handle insert from VW (about a fiver) and then just transfer the lock. Takes all of 5 minutes
The handle's coming from our good friend Brad though.
What's the trick for getting the handle out with the small holes at the back? I haven't tried it myself yet, but Bradley was having problems getting it out!

A screwdriver. It just pops out
You have to pop the barrel out first though if I remember correctly.
Ill post the ELSA screenprint up![Wink ;)](./images/smilies/icon_wink.gif)

Can you even pop the barrel first? Without the handle out you can't access the otherside. the barrel's held in by 4 tabs, I assumed it was a case of gently prying them apart.

I can see why that would be amusing ha! A mate is buying it from me. which may make things even more difficult as I'll see it alll the time!

Ive always bought cars with cash and bankers drafts thats probably why its amusing ![Razz :P](./images/smilies/icon_razz.gif)
Ah fair play. Saying that though, a mate of mine still has my old 1.0 Mk5 and I rarely see them out in it when im out and about.
On the plus side though, at least you know its gonna be looked after near by

Yeh exactly, a cheque isn't normally the port of call!
Yeh definitely, plus there's been massive flexibility with the day of hand over due to finding a replacement which is great.
Gunna miss the car so much! I don't really want to sell it, but my lifestyle just isnt right for it at the moment.

Haha yep I'll be the first one called to the scene!
I'm after a newer diesel to run forever. A3 TDi, 9N3 TDi, bluemotion 2 all looking good, then when I have the funds and time I'll get a mark1 golf as my weekend car![Cool 8)](./images/smilies/icon_cool.gif)
