That panoramic sunroof really sets it apart. Looks stunning mate. Initially went for red myself but changed to pearl black since my current car is red. Maybe that was a hasty decision.
Thanks. The irony is that after spending so much on the options like the sunroof I decided to go with the 'free' paint colour to save some money, which was red at the time (it's now black). I thought it might be too much but am really liking it now in the flesh. I actually demoed a black car and it's just a different look, much more stealthy which some people prefer of course.

The Polo has a lot of torque in the mid range for a small car and is what you feel most often in real world driving - booting it up a slip road from 30 - 70 for example - and this makes it very easy for 'making progress'. The engine is so flexible you can leave it in 6th in many situations but still have a good turn of acceleration if you need it, which also makes it a safe car to drive too.
It's a cracking hot hatchback and no mistake. I also love the DCC with the Sport Kit and having the choice of a comfortable, fine handling, smooth cruiser or a firmly damped taut cornering machine.
You have no choice in the Fiesta ST but to put up with its jiggly ride all the time to compensate for its excellent handling on twisty roads, when you're in the mood to exploit it. However I've tested the Polo on the bumpy B-roads that I enjoy driving down and in my opinion the ST is too hard for them on a regular basis. Indeed the experienced salesman who demoed the ST to me was very interested in my opinion of the Polo GTI and admitted that for him the ST was too uncomfortable, citing a long motorway journey that he found irritating as the car never settled down.
Agree about the mid-range grunt and also the pull in all gears. Very impressive. I have the Sport variant like you but have not yet felt the need to use the Sport setting in anger yet - even in the normal suspension mode setting I find I'm able to thread it down winding country roads without using the brakes and the car hardly rolls at all. The ride being more compliant means it also doesn't unsettle itself at speed on the imperfections we tend to get on most roads too.
I've said in another thread that the only thing I'd change on the car is the stereo which just doesn't quite do it for me. Looking forward to seeing what a few other people do with theirs before deciding how to remedy that deficiency.
I'm also old enough to have driven the original Mk1 Golf GTI and I'm getting the same pleasure out of this one as I recall from way back then.

Agree about the stereo - it sounds muddy and lacking clarity to me. I have hardly used it though and hopefully tweaking the EQ will improve it.
We've had 3 Mk2 Golf GTIs in the family over the past 29 years and still have one.

To be honest, I think the colour choices are quite limited for Polo. Only reason I went white as they said they'd throw in the sunroof free of charge and with that, it breaks up the "whiteness" of the car. Kind of wished I'd added in the carbon mirrors but I believe they can be added on at any time.

Haha, white the best colour IMO, although it tends to look good in any really. Saw a blue one about half an hour ago, looked really good.
One more pic lol, I've had to leave it for a few days while I go down to Goodwood FOS. Something to look forward to when I get back, lol

Here he is…nicknamed Axel. Have to say, I was a bit sceptical how I'd like the GTi in 5-door + how it would sound compared to my Abarth. The sunroof and black trim on spoiler really help break up the whiteness of the car though…back door windows blacked out make it sit a bit better with my eyes as well. The Abarth used to turn some heads but already this is doing the same which is good to see.
THE SOUND…well…he certainly bubbles nicely at startup…not quite as loud as the Abarth but when you open him up, it's a nice throaty roar. I cannot complain. Love it.
Will put up YouTube video at some point too.

Looking good man, congrats!:) My good mate has an Abarth and I was dead set on getting one but got this instead. Both great cars nonetheless.

Finally got my build week now w/c 3rd of August!

Anyone give me a rough idea how long after the build week it'll likely to arrive in the UK?
