Re: Brads progress....new front end and work

Post by bradley1983 »

Right, haven't posted in a while as I have been stressing with the car.

I went to see Sham who broke his red Gti up and took his front end. I have since swapped both wings, bumper, bonnet and rear passenger door.

I have sprayed the washer covers and they are spot on. New fog grills £7 each and a bumper mount for £5.03p. My daughter knocked my fogs off the table so I need a new pair now.

Just had a new screen as I lost my temper and head butted it. £65 :(

I have now started my wheel refurb. Slowly as I don't have a spare set of wheels to take them off. I now have to find some new lights as mine are not original. Did the new plugs and got 380 miles out of my tank......wow and no more miss fire.

I need to adjust the front of my car to get the bumper right. Alex explained how to do it but it still looks the same and I'm getting stressed. Gonna touch up the spoiler and mirrors today. And touch up the rear bumper.

Yeah we all see the red mist from time to time :)

Be nice to see some pics once you get all the front end put together, did you ever get a set of Xenons for it?

I will get some pics up tomorrow after a wash. Needs it as I have dirty hand prints on it now.

No lights yet. I will NOT pay over £250 for a set. I know they look good but I can still see in the dark with the cheap crap on here anyway.

Need to sort out the spacing for the lights but it's 100000 better than when I got it. The car has had a whole new front end inside and out. The front paint was a cherry red.

If you look at the pictures on page 5 on how the rad was and compare it to now. Also the slam bar was as bent as the guy from JLS!!!

It does not look like the same car. Just needs a was, wax and polish now as it is filthy in these pics.

If you look closely you can see the double sided tape under my indicator holding it in place. Lol. The clips snapped so I now need a new set. Any advice where to get some cheap?

When I brought it the car had signs of a minor smash badly repaired. So I swapped the whole inside the front. Then the guy did a bad paint job when he must of tried to fix it. He used the special halfords red, lol and it faded in 2 months. But I paid £720 for the car with 80,046 miles and full history. I then just waited for a front end to come up. I was not gonna spend £500 on a spray. So got bumper, wings, bonnet and door for £240. Which was good as I needed a splitter and lower centre grille.

Just need to find the right lights now ;)

Cheap lights! I brought better bulbs for now. Xenons will go on but only for the right price! It needs them.

I thought about paint but if I did it would not be a bargain. Now I have spent £1096 including the car and an mot. So I am doing well. Need to do my refurb soon. Started but just being lazy.
