Saw that you did a 13.99 @101mph Ryan. Not bad at all and quicker than one of my stage 1 mapped ED30 runs. See below....

Really struggled to get off the line with my road tyres. Plenty of time to be made with some 888's. and a more skillful driver.

That is why I'm thinking about trying 225/40/17's instead of 215/40/17.

Specification Sidewall Radius Diameter Circumference Revs/Mile Difference
215/40-17..... 3.4in ...11.9in ... 23.8in ... 74.7in ... 848 ... 0.0%
225/40-17..... 3.5in ...12.0in ... 24.1in ... 75.7in ... 837 ... 1.3%

So, only 1.3% difference in the mph reading and VW usually over read by more than that.

10mm extra width shouldn't be too much of an issue as long as I get the correct offset alloys 8)

225s will fit onto the stock wheels no worries, I used to run 235/45 R17s on my Mk4 Golf which had wheels an inch narrower than the stock GTI wheels, looked fat as but I could never tell if the tyres were loosing air becuase of the bulge they had! might look into the same again, mainly just for looks on the GTI when I burn out the OEM tyres;)

Would 205x40 tyres work with my 7.5 wide rims?.

Yes they would, but why would you want to?

Your speedo would under-read even more than a normal GTI does as the circumference would be out.

VRS's come standard with 205/40 tyres. :)

Ive recently got a Polo 6R but ive been told that changing the headlights is a dodgy process and the lights need leveled and the bumper needs to be taken off etc. How'd you do it cause i must say that HID kit and the LEDs look stunning! :D :D

The lights come out easy, only 3 bolts to unscrew. HID ballast put into the wings, level with normal control from near lights on control.

Fitted -40mm H+R rear springs and i,m pleased with the result. Still settling but you get the idea. Its brought the back down a little more to my liking. Car handles superb.
