HELLO THERE,

I REGISTERED WITH THIS SITE EARLY THIS MORNING AFTER YET ANOTHER FUTILE SEARCH FOR THE ABOVE DETAILED. I CONSTANTLY SEARCH THE CLASSIFIEDS AND HAVE ALSO TRIED VARIOUS SITES INC. INTERNATIONAL (GERMAN) I'M DESPERATLEY SEEKING THOSE SMART 14" SMOOTH, STRAIGHT, FLAT 6-SPOKE ALLOYS WHICH I BELIEVE ARE CALLED 'Kyalami' FOUND ON THE MK5 POLO (SE) MODELS??? I'M SO FRUSTRATED THAT TODAY I CALLED A COUSIN OF MINE WHO KNOWS A CLIPTOMANIAC! HE BASICALLY GETS YOU ANYTHING YOU WANT FOR A PRICE! SO RATHER THAN LEAVING SOME POOR SOD'S SE ON BRICKS I WAS WONDERING IF ANY OF YOU ENCYCLOPEADIC PPL COULD ADIVSE ME???? IF SO PLEASE SEND ME A PVT. MSG

I'M WONDERING IF THE MK5 WHEEL MODEL REF: 'Kyalami' IS SO UNKNOWN TO ENTHUSIASTS??? A SEARCH ON THIS SITE RETRIEVED ALL BUT NONE RESULT! SHOCKED!!!

All I can say is that yes that name is very familair and that I know the wheels you are talking about. I was after a set a while back. I looked for a long time and never once saw a set for sale. Nice wheels but I'd advise 15" over 14". Sorry I can't be of any help.

hi there the name rings a bell here too but if you have no joy have a look at companys like ronal because they are the official supplier of wheels to vw so they may still list a similar design, otherwise there are litterally thousands of wheels to choose from. i would also like to add that if you fit 14" wheels then you will prolly be using 185/55/14 (iirc but please forgive me cos i havent slept and its 5 am and yesterday i removed and refitted half my interior ) so they will look fairly lost in the arches. if you want a wheel thet looks bigger than it is then i suggest a flat design wheel with spokes that extend all the way to the edge and then lioker the car 30mm as this helps exentuate the wheels. personally i use 15"s as i feel that they suit the car very well as regards arch size and also allow me to lower my car a 'substantial' ammount (which i like ) but more than that there is a much greater range of performance tyres in 15" than in 14".
if you do buy sew wheels then look for somthing in 4x100 PCD with an offset of 35-38mm as this is the optimal choise for the mk5. the stock gti wheels are 15"x6 1/2 but i use a 7" wide rim as i prefer the sidewalls to be taught to remove a little tyre flex.
i understand (from being a mechanic/tyre fitter) that some people choose their wheels according to what their existing tyres is e.g. joe blogs buys a mk5 on 165/65/13 and wants some alloy but rather than fork out for some new tyres in 14" or 15" he buys some 13" alloys and the resuly imho looks poor, if you are in this situation then i strongly advise that if your tyres are in decent shape then use the wheels as winter wheels or sell the tyres (helps pay for the wheels too )
now onto what tyre to buy, well theres a million factors to dial in from what kind of surface you drive on to how you drive and how long you want your tyre to last so ill nedd you to tell me about your driving style first .

and btw
above the left shift key and blow tab theres a button called CaPs LoCk please press it as it makes hard reading when its all in caps
oh and heres my mk5 on 15"

the wheel is produced by OZ and is called the tucano

and this pic is to illustrate how capious the arches on a mk5 are as i am about -80 in this pic and am currently about 20mm lower (im on the left btw ) and sorry to tim whose stock height mk5 is on the right also on 15"

and hers a pis showing that even with a 60mm drop 13" still look terrible sorry
