In basic terms, you'll have to remove the parts you want to colour-code, and then I believe you'll need some wet 'n' dry to sand them down and get a surface that will be suitable for painting.

Then it's the usual primer - base coat - lacquer process as with any other parts paint job... you'll need to add elasticiser to the dash paint to stop it from cracking after it dries.

Thats pretty much the limit of my knowledge on this one... some of the other guys on here may be able to provide a more detailed explanation, or you can pop into a local bodyshop and see what they advise?

Cheers

i must say it sounds abit dodgy to do by yourself!, as im sure you would'nt want to ruin those parts if you did it wrong, assuming that spare parts would cost a bomb from the dealer!
get a professional sprayer, strike a deal, then you'll be laughing :D

I would. Where are you based MK5POLO_2004? Must be at least a couple of decent bodyshops round your way...

I done it to the GF's mk5. Just the same as what you want. I painted the non pimpled bits.

It was very easy to do, by simply removing any parts then rubbing down with wet and dry, get it primed and then rub it again with the wet & dry untill its smooth, then painted it, I got a few bits of dust in it here so i rubbed it again with the wet & dry and painted it again. Left to dry nice good paint job this time, and then laquered it.

Very easy and cheap, and looks good
