Has anyone got their filter fitted like this. if so has it caused any problems with you car.

well i havent seen it like that on a polo any ideas how its done or what induction kit it is?

It has been done, yes. Can't remember who tho.

It's not a kit as such, just the cone filter put onto the end of the current pipes - obviously with the cold / warm air feed removed.

I think it's a neat idea.

Its very neat, but I won't do it, cold air is very important to the engine. If it is provided with a cold air intake, then its awesome

also, where does the oil breather pipe go?

if it's kept the same, then the oil breather won't get filtered.... bad news.

Yes of course it will, if the oil breather will be taking air from the airbox, as I can see it, the airbox will be fed with filtered air!

the oil breather puts air into the air box. not the other way round.

it's coming from the engine, not to it. or am I wrong? The mucky oil coming from the oil breather usually passes through the panel filter, but there won't be one in this case.....
just the cone filter.

you would need to remove the breather pipe from the box, and put your own oil breather filter on it.

The breather pipe still enters the air box after the air filter right next to the throttle body on the original air box and filter set up. This set up is fine.

do u still need the manifold connectiong in order to start the car on cold days

Nah. I took it off ages ago, made no difference. It's not there to help start the car, but to warm up the engine quicker when it's cold. Makes for better emissions, and perhaps better fuel economy when cold.

exactly, no matter if it breadths out or in, in the original setup, the oil breather is after the filter not before

oh i see what you mean! I didn't realise the 8v breather is inside the filter. It's different on a 16v, the breather goes in the LHS of the box, and the breather air goes through the filter, so this setup on a 16v would be worse.

Will let you off then, must admitt I've never seen the 16v airbox assembly.

it's nothing special, just a rectangular filter instead of one of these oval jobbies.
