'Air recirculation when reverse is engaged' question

Hi all,

I'd like to know whether the tell-tale light for the air recirculation comes on when you engage reverse.

My car has the air-recirculation-on-reverse-gear function - I can clearly hear the air recirc engaging when I reverse, and the ventilation noise also changes when it's in 'recycle' mode so I know it's on.

However, the tell-tale light by the ventilation controls remains out.

Am I looking at a defect in my car or are all Polos like that?

Cheers,

i doubt that it should as its not a user selected option and the light only comes on to say that its turned on (like the rear fog) so since you cant turn it off i can see why vw wouldnt light up the switch as there would be hundreds of complaints as to why it wont turn off as people are sat there in reverse with the clutch on the floor about 15000 miles before the release bearing dies

Cheers guys.

You're right, the light turning on would be a bit daft as most people don't even know their cars have this function (the salesperson who sold mine never mentioned it, or indeed a lot of other CAN-BUS functions...).
