Here are a few pix i took today of the new fuel tank (semi fitted)...

And here are a few pix of my freshly shotblasted & etch primed front strut housings...

In this last pic of the strut housings... check the part where the spring seats (im woirried about this, as its gone all the way through the metal).
Only very small holes, but opinions would be greatly received about this, thanx.

Heres some pix of my shotblasted & etch primed G40 spec calipers & carriers (from the old blue CL)

Last quick pic of the inside of the silver CL (im going for the rally slag approach) LoL

So... opinions about the strut housing please. (is it dangerous?)

Also opinions on what colour i should paint the calipers?

I've already decided to paint the strut housings with black 'Tetroseal' (which is made by CarPlan) It's similar to waxoil.

Well.. personally I wouldn't trust the strut housing.. think of the enormous pressure the spring is going to put on it, and if the shot blasting has gone right through in parts then it will have weakened the prest of it pretty badly, I would have thought..
Probably best get someone elses opinion rather than just taking my word on it, but it certainly looks pretty dodgy to me. What's the other one like? Does it look like it's been weakened at all?

that strut looks dodgy to me, not sure I'd trust it with holes rusted through like that.

they look good though, I'm going to do something similar to my struta on the G40 soon.

What did you paint the petrol tank with by the way? I've got a new one to go on soon but I want to rust proof if first.

I used a 3 quid can of 'Tetroseal' (made by CarPlan). You can find it @ most motorfactors

Something that noticed straight away is the fact the strut housings bearing hole has been painted, which you dont wan't. Also the brake calipers have been painted on the sliders and the carriers on the pad contacts which again isnt what you wan't.

I would get another strut to replace the one thats rusted through.

No worries, was gonna strip the primer back to bare metal in all the needed places (thanx for the observations anyways )

The bearing holes have been masked off (dont think the pix show that up too well)

Think i will hold fire on fitting the stuts & use another one i have currently on the silver CL (will remove and renovate when the timings right)
