Buying a second hand 9n.

My grilfriend is currently looking into buying a second hand FSI. We were looking at the 6n2 GTi but I think it would be too fast and being a bit older than he current car probably not the best option.

We are viewing the car on Sunday, not too sure about the guy selling it, he sounds a bit dodgy. He says he's had a few polos but is now moving on to a seat diesel.

Anyone have any advice on what to look out for??
Any possible problems?

James.

I didn't have any major problems on my FSI. I think the Sport didn't get the creaky suspension problems.

Mine didn't have a rattly dash either. The only probelm I think it had was an emissions light came on the dash which was fixed by a software upgrade.

mines 2004 model, no dash rattles :P :D

The only bugbear with my 2002 Sport was the creaky suspension.

All models as far as I'm aware are afflicted with the same problem.

Just make sure the car has a full service history and hopefully some warranty left.

how old is the fsi you're checking out?

ive only had minor problems with mine.. (june '04, 1.4 fsi, sport trim) :

dodgy interior trim, door trim, broken buttons - dealers have offered to sort it, but i still havent found the time to take it in!

and recently an odd knocking noise from engine bay... yet to be diagnosed

no problems with suspension, brakes, dashboard rattling etc that some ppl's seemd to have.

hope thats useful, and good luck :D

the car is an 03. I had an 03 FSI and there was nothing wrong with it.

The knocking noises may be if your switching between super unleaded and unleaded petrol.

The car looks pretty nice anyway and we're going for it. So my g/f will have a 9n polo by the end of april :D
