Wheel Alignment Specification for Polo 6n2

My car has been lowered and have taken it to have the wheels realigned but they said they needed the toe and camber specifications to do this as the suspension has been modified. Anyone got any clues as to what it should be set at??????

It has been lowered by 35mm and I have 195/50/15 (7" rims)

Cheers

They (the place you took your car to) clearly haven't got a bloody clue......

Lowering and bigger rims affects suspension geometry but.......

What you want is the camber, caster, toe in or toe out, reset to std

Or put it another way

Std Car wheels are close to parallel ie looking from above.

Front of car

I.................I

I.................I

Rear of car

Lowering the car makes the front wheels point out like this

Front of car

\................./

I.................I

Rear of car

so you want to reset the tracking to factory settings - if they don't understand that take it to somewhere else - leave out the bit about the wheels and lowering and ask them to check and adjust as required your tracking.

Bigger wheels and lowered suspension is no factor in the set point required - you want exactly the same setting as you had before

Now Camber is a whole different ball game.

Looking at the front of the car

Std wheels will be close to

I.................I

lowering will result in

/................\

Looks nice but will scrub the inside edges of the tyres in no time at all so again you want to reset it back to as close to stock as you can.

You do this by adjusting the bottom of the shock on the hub it has a fixed hole and a slotted hole for this process but sort this out after the tracking has been corrected.

Need any more info just ask

When you say "the bottom of the shock on the hub" do you mean the two bolts that hold the hub and the shock together???

Thanks again for your help!

My dad has a vw polo 1998 and it is a 4 dorr when my dad got the car the front wheel bearings was bad so he replacted those but now the front tires in side are worn but the other side or not worn (the tires was new before vinter) so we think the camber is of so what camber is the best for tire wear in the front on a 1998 4 door VW Polo 1,6l (not gti).
