where to spray oil on the accelerator?

Hi all, my polo has developed a slightly annoying sound lately. It's coming from the accelerator pedal when depressed about 0.5-1cm, which is the typical play of the pedal when used during start-stop conditions in the town. It's like a screeching sound and i feel it needs some oiling. So i sprayed some oil yesterday to the point where the pedal is connected to. No good. I still hear and feel the screeching.

It's annoying because it can be heard all the time during slow speeds as i'm constantly moderating the accelerator - normally.

Any ideas?

Might be worth thinking about replacing the accellerator cable? Otherwise the two points that would squeak are where you've already oiled (really douse it, sometimes it needs a lot to soak in) and where it connects to the carburettor, oil the wheel that it connects to.

yeah I'd replace it......

its like with clutch cables, you can oil them but its only a tempory fix, and with a few days its noisy again

would it cause me any problems though? i'll be going for a holiday to lake district in may, and i don't want to have a snapped accelerator cable (or a stuck down all the way accelerator as a worse case scenario) while going all those miles.

Nah, accellerator cable's a nice easy job and there's very little that could go wrong. You'll be fine as long as you don't kink it :)
