Are they brand names bulbs? if so very good price, if not still OK, as way cheaper than Halfords would have charged you.

Its ok, H7's are for some reason expensive anyway. Xenon is just another type of halogen that they use, they are supposed to burn brighter than standard halogens, I couldn't see any difference with them myself.

But here's a mod that anyone could try (if you don't have HIDS). If you take the back off the headlight on one side, identify the H7 +ve wire. Measure it with a meter and you will find its about 12.4 V, I found the battery was about 13.8V. So hmm, I thought, how about conneting a wire between battery +ve and the bulb (A mod I did on my old Mk3). So I found a thick wire and when you connect it the bulb appear much brighter, and visibly whiter. It turns out that the crappy spindly wiring that goes from the battery - via the switch - via fuses and - via the wiring loom is such a long way that the losses are quite large. So I added a relay and a thicker feed. It was considerably better. And perfectly legal.

..... Then I ripped the whole lot out and stuffed a GTi headlight system in including the self-levelling. Which is obviously much better.

Cool, very good tip on the wiring, I thought only rover cut corners with electrics, will do that mod myself.

Sounds good, too complicated for me tho :D. Im used to the standard crappy bulbs so these will do just fine for now. My front end is much smarter now. Lower Gti Splitter, Xenon bulbs all round, spot lights, gti grills all round and crystal side repeaters :D.

Im liking it alot.

They're not actual Xenon's but just halogen bulbs that will have a brighter whiter light...... Don't forget that xenon's need the whole ballast / extra circuitry to work.........

I think an actual xenon bulb costs in the region of £100-£120 from a dealer. (When i bought the car in 2003 dealer quoted £105 + vat)

One thing to be warey of..... Over on the Lexus Owners Forum a few people got some imported "xenon" bulbs that weren't E-stamped and they misted over the plastic headlight covers on the Lexus.... Turned out it was due to the amount of UV light given off by the bulbs. I only mention this cause i know the GTi has plastic headlight lenses but not sure about the other Mk5's.

We have a Lexus IS as well as the Polo GTi and i fitted Phillips Blue vision bulbs in the lexus for side, dip & main beam positions...... Came to around £40 for all six bulbs and with free next day delivery from Power Bulbs. They have a nice look to them that from some angles / distances looks like a xenon bulb. But i still notice the differance as soon as i get back in my car again.

Hope this is of some use to ya...... Those Audi wheels look furkin' kewl by the way....

Cheers

Dave.

Could someone advise the correct combo of bulbs I should order for my Polo Year 2000 model?

Is it a H4 combo or not... I get conflicting info, I think it is a H4, but would be greatful if someone with the same 6N2 who has done it could post what they purchased

Many thanks
