Can anyone suggest a good but not overly expensive stainless steel exhaust (from cat back) that sounds like the original and fits like original ie no horrible pipes stick out the back and not so low that it scrapes every time i go over a road hump?

the only exaust thats going to sound like stock is a stock pipe as the stainless pipes are harder (the metal is harder than mild steel) so it "reflects" more sound and the less sound that is asorbed into the metal the more comes out the end, this is what gives a stainless a unique and raspy sound
as for them scrapeing cos there too low, i have never had a problem with this and i used to use peco so make sure the exaust isnt made of sticky tape and string (which the peco almost was!) and you should be ok
if youve got your heart set on stainless (even though it costs more) then all i can suiggest is that you ask a custom shop who specialise in exausts

So can you recommend any custom exhaust shops? or good exhaust factor?

Remus, Sebring and Supersprint make good quality systems. They generally arent much louder if you keep the same amount of silencers.

I've been told Jetex are pretty quiet.

Also Powerflow have dealers all across the uk and can make a system to your spec.

I've been searching the net all day and i can't find a front box (after the cat) in s/s has anyone got a s/s exhaust on a 1.4 16v 6n?

Oh yeah forgot to say anyone got a supersprint exhaust? any opinions on this?
