stalling!

anybody got any hints for me? Problem is that when approaching lights or roundabouts (i dont think that it has anything to do with the reason why im stopping by the way,

) the car seems to stall, or if i'm quick enough giving it some acceleration stops it from stalling. But one of these times im not gonna catch it in time and some poor buggers gonna get an imprint of the VW badge!! Its most anoying, but gut feelings are that it has something to do with my air filter, not being a genius with engines but i dont think that the mk4 polo 8v has a airflow meter so its maybe getting to much air and not enough fuel? Just a gut feeling as the car only seems to have started this bad habbit after installing the filter...
cheers K.

have you tried some 10k boost?
costs £25 quid from Halfords and completly flushes out your engine. when mine wasn't idleing properly this sorted it.
failing that it could be any of -
spark plugs/ht leads
air flow meter
engine management

nothing bar changing the air filter which is a Green Cotton, part from that its still the same as when it left the factory (1.4 8v) except the changes when it gets its service. Oh yeh, also changed the exhaust with a SS piper half system, but it was doing it b4 changing that!

Try cleaning out all breather pipes. Particually the pipe that goes though the airbox from the engine breather. Mine was blocked and caused the stalling as slowwing problem. Since I cleaned it out it has'nt stalled once on me and runs a lot better.

Could it be anything to do with the idle control valve?
Because I've had a couple of cars that had this, just a thought
