i have just finished fitting a new exaust to a 1963 morris minor, now just for the record; the exaust and all assosiated hard ware is original and has not been touched since 1963 when it left the factory, so thats 40 years of road grime and rust, or so you would think! there was not one single seized bolt! i didnt have to change any of the clamps! and the exaust that i removed had only a few trivial holes (less than 5mm diam). now in comparison when i do exausts at work they are usually less than 5 years old and when removed are rusted beyond belif (sp?) and usually crumble in the process. so this tells us that modern exausts are not bult to last.
oh ps just for the giggle here are the prices for a manifold back exaust (from manifold to rear bumper)
mild steel (1 piece) with all mounting hardware included £23
stainless steel (2 piece) all mounting hardware included £78
suddenly my dub seems soo expensive

did i not mention that i own one ? and have you ever seen one with a real engine in it'? the rover sd1 engine is populay (3.5 v8) and so is the rover K series both of which when in a car topping the scales at not much over 700 kg makes them quite rapid

I was at a job the other day and there was a moggy parked out front that the owner had converted into a pickup!! Looked pretty crazy!

there were pickups from the factory
im keeping mine stock exept for a few safty upgrades like poly bushes revised shock placement/action, possibly a servo and range rover discs with twin pot calipers etc
the engine is the 1098cc a series engine as used in the mini it has a slightly unsure history engine wise because it was bought second hand by a copper who we think skimmed the head and possibly threw in a cam (were pretty sure it was him as the previous owner to me is a friend and im pretty sure he didnt do it) unfortunatly when i bought her she was in need of some adjustment and a service with timing chain, the timing chan has been replaced with a duplex version. at the moment shes in peices as i have done a bare shell respray so every thing is being refitted slowly, however i have hit a bit of a stump as i now require parts and in france there are no suppliers so it all has to come from the uk. im hoping to have her on the road before winter but we`ll see
