Anybody fitted Beetle Sport Edition Lock Pins???

I'm sure i heard someone had fitted these Beetle sport edition aluminium lock pins/knobs to their Polo......
I've got a set but they are nothing like the one's on the Polo and wondered how the heck the person fitted them.
They are approx 2/3 the size of the knobs i've got on my car and have a different screw thread too.
I wondered if they might have to be glued in situ with araldite but it looks as though, due to the fact that they are a lot smaller, they would dissapear down into the door when the doors are locked.
Anybody know of someone who has done this mod??
