Just ordered my porsche rims yesterday will be arriving for next thursday (can't wait)

i managed to get 6x16 with 195/45 tyres design 90 they were not too expensive, do you think the tyre will catch as the car is quite low or with them being 6x16 they will be ok?

Get the 40 series Harry. Not only will it look better (that's what I think anyway) but they'll also be the correct size. This will mean they are much less likely to catch, even though 6x16 is on the safe side.
Oh, and one more thing: You Lucky *@#&$#!!
Just kidding- top choice mate. We'll need pics though. Lots.

hi speedlaw thanks, yeah i thought about the tyre profile as well but 45 profile seems more recommended for comfort, i can always change later on to 40 profile oh and these are genuine rims aswell not replicas..i tell you i can't wait...

With 16's there won't be much comfort, regardless of the height of the tyre. I really recommend the right size...
What's the story on the wheels, you managed to get 4 'front' wheels then?

Well yesterday i went to a few tyre places to see what rims were available getting bored with the standard bbs (although they do look nice) after having seen those polos with different wheels really wanted to do something different, had a look in unicar and got chatting to the tyre specialist and told him i want some porsche rims he rang around a few places and said can get either 2 alloys at 7x16 and 2 at 6x16 so would have to put the 7x16 on the back and 6x16 ont the fronts, then the chap on the other end said he had a full set of 4 6x16 and would i have them after he told me the price i said most definately spoke to awsome gti and got the adapters ordered how does £699 for genuine rims including tyres and locking nuts and fitted sound? the adapters cost me £230 got a discount from awsome as they fitted the coilovers.

Sounds fair. For Euro reference the adapters are pricey, but in the UK I haven't heard of cheaper alternatives. So I'd say it's cool- lots of cash, but cool.
Changed your mind about the tyres already?

Are the rims any cheaper in Europe? i want to see how the car sits on the new rims first if it rubs then will have to go to a lower profile although i might have to raise it a little as i still have to use it everyday i now have to get up 10 mins early as speed humps at work take extra time to get over them (wish they would get rid of all speed humps)

Hi Harry
Looks like there's going to be 2 GTi's running around on these rims soon!
I've been saving up for some for a while now.
Going to get H&R Adapters, 4x 6x16" wheels running on Pirelli P-Zero Nero's at 195x40x16
I'm trying to find somewhere that will polish them up to a mirror finish too, which will be nice!
Anyway, yours will be lower than mine

Not getting them anytime soon, but I've found a place that gets them for £150 a set...
I think it's going to cost more than that to get them polished though

Polished sets go for around 700 - 900 € ova' here. That's without tyres of course, but still ok. They used to be even more, but the 'peak' has gone. Check out German eBay, always something on there.

is the polish effect better than a standard shine?

I've seen a set of porsche rims polished and ready to fit on, question is they are on a golf will they with the adapters fit the polo??
