Bought some wheels off ebay with a view to polish them up good style, bought my metal polishing kit and since found out the wheels Ive bought are diamond cut.

Been told that its gonna be a hell of a task polishing these up as they will have loads of tiny grooves etc...

the outer edges are a bit scuffed etc but it think the rest of the wheels are ok (currently on way over from Germany so only got this pic to work off) reckon I should just polish the outer lips and leave the centres?



Help/opinions etc

you should be able to rub them down using diffrent grades of wet and dry, ask bstardchild, he's the wheel re-ferb master! if it can be done he will tell you!

Not exactly wheel re-ferb master just done a bit of polishing

Yeah you just need to use some wet and dry paper (use it wet) to take the lines out before you hit it with the polishing mops - remember the coarser the paper you use the more likely you are to take the lines out but you will make the job of polishing harder.

Without seeing the wheels it's hard to tell but I reckon you'll need somewhere between 800 & 1200 to get the lines out and once they are gone a finer paper to get them close to a stage when they can be polished.

The only thing I worry about when doing such a large expanse of allloy is getting an even finish - If you use fingers against the wet and dry you could end up with a rippled finish - So I strongly recommmend you wrap the wet and dry in a small flat block of wood.

I mush admit they will look very good when done
