Boot central locking

I'm about to fit a central locking kit to my car, and was wondering if anyone had managed to set up central locking on a mk2 that would unlock the tailgate? If so, how? I've got a 4 door kit, so I presume I can use one of the outputs for the non existant rear doors to power the boot release?

lol as i'm the only guy to reply to this one hopefully i'll get it right.
Can be done dude, a very good friend of mine actually did it to his wifes polo and being an audio installer including full builds too was done extreamly well
he made a set of instructions on how to do it and also measuremenst to make up the kit using exactly a 4door central locking kit.
as soon as he finds them he'll scan them in for ya

for a mk2 polo to have central locking on the boot requires a solenoid. Its only mk3s where the design of the bootlock is the same as a mk2 golf you can actually fit the correct bits to have "proper" central locking. Even then you need the golf item and swap the lock mechanisms over.

Ok, so what exactly does the solonoid do? Just turn the existing lock? Any drawbacks to that?

It just pulls the lever inside the bootlid and opens the boot. Ideally you remove the lock and smooth off the hole so you cant get access without using it. Not ideal really as you cant by-pass it.

Ach

That'd be a pain, unless I get my hands on a keyless entry kit.. sounds like an awful lot of work for now though.

when im having my boot dun..... im going for the old fassioned "boot pull" found in Fiat Chinqs, and Ford Escorts!! no electronics to be bypassed or any thing to go wrong (except a cable snap.... but boubt that for a long time)
