Hey there, i have just had my first car, car a VW Polo genesis. Its the squareback version, i was wondering what alloy wheels i can have. The tyres i have are 13" and i cant find many alloys that make 13"'s. Can anyone suggest some alloys that would fit or tell me if i could possibly fit bigger tyres.
any help would be greatly appreciated.
many thanks,
Dan

If your going to lower the squareback I think anything wider than 5.5" is going to foul the arches, I had 14x6 with 185/60/14 tyres and they srubbed the arches at the back really badly.
There are loads of companies who make 13's, just have to know where to look!

I've got the same problem. I have a lowered squareback and a set of 14" alloys to fit, but have absolutely no idea what size tyres to fit so that it doesn't foul. If there is anyone out there that knows the answer please post it here

Hi,
I have 14"x6" ET 38 wheels on my squareback with 165/60/14 tyres. On my genesis it scrubbed on one side at high speeds 75-80mph+ so the arches needed rolled (£50 a side) but on my squareback GT they dont rub unless I carry silly loads (full gt engine box and an engine crane! dont ask

)
So i would recommend the above sizes, just depends on the condition of your suspension (my genesis was lower than my GT weird) or how vw alined the back axle I recon.
good luck!
edit - also once the arches are rolled there is a reasonable gap at the sides between the tyre and arch, so possibly the tyre size above what i fitted may fit. But if you want to lower it the future the above gives more freedom!
O and squarbacks are by far the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yep, squarebacks are definitly the best by far
the alloys that I have are Golf GTi teardrops so hopefully the tyres that you mentioned will fit

My mate has p slots and I think they are the same size of wheel as your teardrops, so they should fit! hope your going to paint the teardrop recess the same colour as your polo as they look great then!
let us know how it goes!

185/60/14 certainly doesn't agree with squarebacks. I've got the damage on my car to prove it thanks to the previous owner! You might get away with 195/45's on 14x6 rims cause they will be a lot lower profile than 185/60's, but I can't garantee it. Sometimes it can vary from car to car as to how low you can go.
