Does an AEA 1.6 spi use the same basic loom as an ADX 1.3 spi? Could I just swap the engine and ecu over?
Thanks in advance

Yes you can, the spi 1.3 and the spi 1,6 have the same wireloom.....also the mpi 1.4 has the same as the 1.6 and the 1.4 16V......

I assume that's 1.4mpi>1.6mpi? I can't be lucky enough to have a loom that'd run a 16v!
Thanks for your reply, I feel a subtle upgrade coming on

Hmmm.....i do understand you wrong or you undestand me wrong...i said the wireloom from the 1.3 (spi) and the 1.6 AEA (SPI) is the same, but different to the wireloom of the MPI Engines like the 1,4 (8V)= , 1.6 AEE and the 16V.......so your spi wireloom is different to the 16V Wireloom....

All clear
Nice to know all the mpi looms are the same as well:P
Thanks very much

I got a question of my own in this matter:
I was thinking to place the inletmanifold + valve which controls the amount of air entering your maniflod (don't know the english word for it, sorry) of a 1.4 r 1.6 MPI on my 1.3 SPI
I already know it will fit, cause al the connections are the same, but....
I don't know if the wiring will fit? Is the inlet control valve (which is mounted on the inletmanifold) connected to the main wiring of the car? Or is the control unit only connected to the "verdelerkap = dutch word" (verdelerkap = the piece from which the kabels to your sparkplugs come from)
---------------------------------------------------------------------
I hope this is clear enough, but since I don't know most english words for some technical stuff I couldn't do any better than this, sorry

I understand you but I can't answer the question I'm afraid.
I've thought of using the 1.6 spi injector unit on the 1.3, I think it will be a straight swap. I did something similar on my mk3 1.05 using the injector unit from a mk3 Golf 1.4 and it made a worthwhile difference for very little money

The idea of a 1.6SPI injector+manifold on my 1.3SPI already crossed my mind, but the problem with the SPI's is that if you tune it up to much, you engine will break down easily (this has been told to me by some people from the Polo Club Holland).
And if I ever continue with my idea of fitting a (small) turbo, an MPI will be able to handle the bigger 'demand' for fuel better dan an SPI.

Doesn't anybody know if it's possible to replace the manifold+throttle+computer from a SPI with a MPI
(so to put a MPI system on a SPI block)
