After some nice years with our Genesis coupe, time to change because we drive a lot (diesel is cheaper overhere wenn you drive al lot of km's)
Our former coupe and a new sedan

So time to meet our little Lady:
It's a VW Polo Classic

Nov 1996
Color Black magic (perlefect) LC9Z
1896cc 4 cilinder SDI (MKB AEY)
Engine mod's:
Removed original Airfiterbox, with homemade one, installed a powerbox, give's this SDI (non Turbo Direct injected diesel) a nice improvement in Torque and Horsepower.

Some small interior parts changed, buidling a bebadged grill And a few mods under the hood: She gives a nice Rooooaaaar,



The dials:




Exhaust mid section removed and fitted this MK-53 and a Remus backbox

This brasilian light have been ordered. will be delivered shortly (finaly )

In between a few hours work while mouting the Coilover set:
How low can you go, about 2 cms left between backbox and garagefloor :blink: This is a bit to low....


Another project for our Lady:
refurbishing these VW Corrado 15 inch wheels Model "Sebring"

Next little modification, rear lights
The old ones and the new ones:


Some modifications, just a pinlayout change. old connector has 5 pins the new one has 6 pins.




And with an adaptorcable between left en right side all lights are working.
So dual foglights and reverse lights (left and right side)

And this is how she looks with the new units in place


And the latest minor modifications, well actually some are still work in progress. First a genuine Cruise control, not available for this model. But Vw has allready confirmed that is just ad some new parts (wiringloom and the switch) I still have to change parts of the wiringloom and after that it will be enabled with VAGcom. But the CC/indicator switch is already in place (a Transporter MK4-1 switch)
Other thing that has been modified. Well beter is to say it has been removed.
The catalytic converter (Dutch roetkat) has left the building.
So only that Remus backbox keeps it (NOT) silenced.
Resulting in a nice sound to about 1900rpm, after that my airintake does the trick. (1900rpm and up)
To be honest, the airintake is closer to my ears so I don't know how the lady sound at higher revs with only the remus backbox.

Other things to do:
- Still looking for some nice set of wheels 16 or 17".
- Kamei Rearspoiler originaly Audi A4 first gen
- Changing all green dash switches/lights with Red Seat Cordoba ones

Hey thats really nice and you don't get to see many Polo saloons around that look so clean. The new rear lights make a huge difference, they really are a great improvement!

Love it...... But why is it a MKV - surely it's a MKIV?

Well actually it isn't a mark 4 or 5
It's not a 6N/6N2 model but a 6K model. It's still in production in some countries.
It shares the same base as Seat Ibiza/Cordoba 6K and 6k GP01 (facelift 1999-2002)

This box, adjust the quantity of fuel being injected. Simple rule with Diesel engine's more fuel is more power. Normaly a diesel runs on a mixture of lots of air and a little bit of fuel. By injecting more fuel is runs with a better mixture I ca't get the right words but I hope You did understand this
Basicly by adjusting the poti on this box I can regulate(more or less than what the ECU would like) the amout of fuel being injected, the ECU is overruled.
In horspower: standard my AEY coded SDI engine has 64 BHP
With box at optimum setting 75 tot 80 BHP.
80BHP is with a bit of diesel typical smoke (black) when flooring the pedal
This 1000 kilos of polo classic runs over 180KMH at the German Autobahn.
Standard Vmax is about 165/170KMH

The boot is our swimmingpool
Big ennough for a Kicker sub with housing (prox 40l) and stil room left

So The lady is upgraded with a new option:
Added VAG Original Cruise control (GRA/tempomat)
With a Transporter mk4 Switch, added another piece of wiringloom to my ECU 3 single wires and one to 15(+12v over ignitionswitch)
Ans finaly used VAGcom to activate it. And it works perfectly

Funny part of this all: my VW dealer doens't believe it, one of the mechanics overthere said that is would only work with TDI engines.
He is so wrong, All (99%) SDI/TDI the first gen. VP37 engines(not the PD engines) are actually equiped with this CC. But mostly deactived.
