got bored

i got bored so decided to do wee bit of work on polo again

Still not quite bored but i would like to do the same to my cover.
Whats involved? getting the cover out by removing those 3 little screws and what? sanding it? polishing it?

looks mint lad, thats wierd i got bored tonight and wanted to do something to the polo, i polished me fookin rocker cover too

Depends on if you have the full size cover combined airbox or just the one shown above
3 allen key bolts hold it on - thats it - it is orientated one way so make a note of which way
Remove the bolts
Remove the rocker cover
Separate the gasket - try not to break it it's rubber and get brittle with age but 99 times out of 100 it's fine
Degrease the cover
Casting quality is pretty poor so it took a hell of a lot of time and effort with various grades of wet and dry before I even went near it with the polishing mops and compound. When it comes to taking photos I'm no David Bailey BTW and the photos were done under house lighting so it actually does look better than the pics...
If you want more info on polishing go and have a look at the refurbing post on split rim alloys in the DIY section - seems like plenty of info in there
Refitting is a reversal of removal
new bolts from Vag parts and all back together

def getting there mate, sand down in different grades of wet n dry paper, get some blisters etc, then polish life outta it, lol, will take away any marks, your manifold cover shined up well , what all u use there??

i just used a polishing kit with drill ends and thre different polishes, each lighter than the last then put vienna lime to remove surface dirt and wack no some autosol, it will do me for the meantime, gets u covered in s**t also

How do u gt it so shiny??
What drill bits will i need??
