...without something breaking.

After the AC (for months), the brand-new-camera, one of the R10's, my computer's PSU, faith has decided to break something more frivoulous.

As of today, my 'You're forgetting your lights, dummy.' reminder has gone AWOL. The annoying buzzer has simply quit working.

Now getting a new one won't be too hard, but I thought of something else. You know how US cars have those 'gongs'? The Mk3 Golf (US edition) has one of these too. They (the US folk) hate it. I kinda dig it. Does anyone know if it'll fit?

This happened to me last year. Mine was simply a loose connection.
Drop the glovebox lid down on drivers side and push the unit back into the fuse board.
Not sure where yours is on a LHD car.
Hopefully you have the same problem.

Good idea. I'll check it to make sure it's not simply loose, the dealer had to work there last week, so they may have nudged it out of place.

Thanks!

It was exactly as you suggested - the buzzer was slightly loose and therefor 'broken'; all better now.

Thanks again!

Glad to be of assistance !. Guessed it would be the same problem I had.
That buzzer's a pain in the arse but when it stops working you realise how useful it really is !.

Well you won't believe this,

but it stopped working again. I tried to jam it through the firewall this time, but it didn't help like it did last week. Don't know why, I'll duck under the dash once more coming Saturday to figure out what's going on.

On that note,

Any thoughts on that US gong?

to stop it poping out again bend the prongs slightly in different directions so it grips a little

Thanks Ash, I'll give that a try.
