Driveshaft Problems....Again

Alright, my relationship with the GTi is under strain........ 
Pulling onto the dual carriageway last night and the driveshaft went pop (again - see earlier post). Has anyone else had any problems with their driveshafts, cv joints etc..? This is becoming a bit of a pain in the a*se to be honest.
Depending upon the diagnosis, it's likely that the GTi will be up for sale by the end of the month as I need reliability over anything else.
2000 (X) Red 3 Door
In dash 6 disc changer (VW genuine)
Side Air Bags
Electric Sunroof
No alloy corrosion
...other usual VW Gti bits (but no Climate unfortunately)
She's in pretty damn good nic. Anyone out there that might be interested?
