I got a new one fitted during my last service so didnt get changed labour for it! 1 Hour labour at a normal local garage should only be £25

I think Ill ring back and speak to the service dept. and ask how long/much to fit it, that labour price was from the parts man
Mr.Clutch have quoted me £75.95 all inc

Coz they are robbing c**t, dont get it done at VW. They only make a slight margin on the sale of cars so they have to pull your pants down on servicing!

I was going to do it myself, but VW did not have the part in stock and its sooo fiddly to do, getting thru the bulk-head, hooking it to pedal, gears etc.. and then id not be sure how to make the adjustments so it all works right. Was tempted though.

Ahh well, yep was watching the AA man fit the temp one, seemed easy enough, just a pain and limited access (engine and dash in the way hehehe)
Will check what they've done and learn from it I suppose, should it ever go again

Yup - Its got to be a genuine VW part i think !!!
I think its also s**t how its a manual adjuster and not auto. LHD get auto adjusters meant to be !!!
I replaced my cable - after having hassle with changing gear. It fixed it for 2-3 months so i think tis going to have to be a new cluth.... and ive only done 43k !!!
Ahh welll...

Your right about the LHD, they get auto adjuster version of the cable

fyi when a cluch is used in any thing other than a sedate fasion the auto adjuster stands a much higher chance of seizing. once siezed your cluch has a life span of approx 50-100 miles. Happened in my mk3 golf.
