Has anyone installed a Aftermarket component set in the front of a mk5.

I tried this a while ago and when i removed the pod were the VW tweeter sits the actuall tweeter its self is really really thin and the tweeter i had wouldnt have fit. So i never bothered fitting them.

So were has everyone else installed the Tweeter or do you think i could modify the origional holding to make it fit.

Also what size is the Door speaker.

I fitted a set of Infinity Reference components in mine. They are 6.5 inch.

I installed the tweeter in the original position by removing the old speaker and cutting away the plastic holder for it then hot glued the new one in place. It's tight and almost touches the door once the foam bit is fitted but it worked fine.

I have a few pics somewhere i'll try and post up.

Cool. Pics will be good.

I'd rather have it in the origional possition.

Wire routing was easy.

Mine are Infinity Reference 6500cs.

Not amped, they run off a 4x60w Alpine HU.

Yeah 6.5 in, or 16.5 cm. I was gonna buy Alpine to match my head unit. My sub and amp are Rockford Fosgate so they go together, But the Infinity's were my other choice and the were on sale in Halfords for £60 so ended up getting them.

These are the Alpine i almost bought:

My mate has Just offered me a se of 16.5 Alpine Type R's. Just waiting for him to reply with a Price.

I bought Vibe's SA50's http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/product ... 9dcbe06faa

Can be used as Components or Coaxials, incase you haven't got room for the tweeters. Crystal clear quality as well.

RMS: 85w
MAX: 330w

Is there any worry about depth when buying the fronts? or will any 6.5" comp or coax do the job?

It's always best to check, some have bigger magnets than others, I mean mine are pretty big for 5", whereas others are smaller, so all depends on that really, like I say it's always best to check before hand to avoid dissapointment.
