Lift off, I did that once. It was kinda kool...

...I used to have a mk3 polo genesis 1litre, on my way out to kingston. Between kingston and richmond, hitting 55-ish on the 40 road, it was empty... No cars in front.

The road had ramps at at every traffic light which at the time I wasn't aware of - I got some pretty decent air time, thank god it was on a straight cause it could've been messy. (CONFESSION: I tried doing it on the way back, but there were too many cars and couldn't pick up enough speed.)

Similar stories anyone? (Don't mean to hijack the topic, just thought it was a little relevant)

only a few times, and i think all but once, entirely intentional

i know a few little humps and railway bridges that are good for it

unfortunately there are very few on straights with either good enough visibility or a low enough risk of there being anything in the way on the other side - a surprising amount are on corners (think the unintentional one proved THAT in a brown trousers manner if i remember rightly)

there's a corking "secret" jump between clifton and west bridgford in notts if you know where it is and can get the run-up right in fairly light traffic... need to hit it at 50 or a little more to get airborne, though its technically a 30 limit youre miles from houses and can easily see if there are any vulnerable peds/cyclists etc... get lined up, cane it hard, hit the clutch just as you clear it (prevents box & engine damage on touchdown) and......... wheee! Another is a humpback bridge near me where the challenge really is both to get the speed up (very short run-up one side, long but pretty steep on the other, never really managed it til i had the 'tray) and not to brick it as there's zero visibility and a crossroads each side. Needless to say that was only attempted when feeling very low, pissed off, and near suicidal, so i won't give the location. Plus it wasn't very good despite how great it looked.

To misinterpret in two different ways..... i've lifted off on corners in the wet a little too sharply and found the car going arse over t!t, metaphorically speaking. Beware!
And again in the rain a fun game is to see how long a "lift off!" burnout you can do facing uphill from lights. If you start off from a slightly oilier bit of road and use second it can go 100 yds or more, making a great noise, waking everyone up (late-shift workers' lonely-drive-home kind of game), making you feel/look like a hooligan, and knackering the tyres/suspension/wheel bolts/engine/etc.
